As the festival went on the sun started to set. Rapunzel was making a wish on a fountain and Merida grabbed her hand, "Rapunzel, I have a surprise for you." She said tugging at her arm.

"Oh a surprise!? What is it!?"

"Shh. You'll see, come on."
Merida covered Rapunzel's eyes and lead her down some steps and onto a wobbly, miniature, gondola boat. She moved her hands and helped Rapunzel sit. She sat in front of her and started rowing down the canal. There were small cobble stone buildings lining the canal with ivy and vines growing all around, every now and then arching over the water, and little purple berries hanging off.

Rapunzel looked around, "oh Merida, it's so pretty."

"Just like you." She replied, smiling.

Rapunzel blushed, they passed by low hanging vines and a lizard fell on Rapunzel's head. "Oh!" She exclaimed, plucking it out of her hair. "Oh he's so cute! Do you think I could keep him?"

"I don't see why not, hopefully he gets along with Angus. Whataya gonna name him?"

Rapunzel thought about it, "Hmm, what about Pascal?"

The lizard moved its head and it seemed to be nodding. "Oh he likes it! Pascal it is then."

The sun sank lower in the sky and Merida looked up. "Rapunzel?"

"Yeah?"

"This time with you has been absolutely wonderful. The day we met you asked if I had someone I loved, and I didn't. Honestly I never thought I would find someone, well, like you." Merida reached into her side pouch and pulled out a little emerald ring. "Rapunzel, I love you. I don't want to be without you." She said kneeling down as much as she could without tipping over the boat and grabbed her hand. "Will you marry me?"

Rapunzel's mouth opened slowly and she started to tear up. She tackled Merida, rocking the boat enough to splash water in the air. "Yes." She kissed Merida's cheek. "Yes." She kissed her other cheek. "Yes." She kissed her on the lips. "I love you Merida."

"I love you too, Punz" and the lanterns floated into the sky. Merida slipped the ring on Rapunzels finger and held her while they watched the lanterns.
