Rapunzel hugged her tight while Merida stroked her hair. "It's okay Rapunzel.." Merida said and wiped away a tear that was trailing down Rapunzel's cheek; "I.. uh, I think we should braid your hair next time we swim." She laughed nervously, trying to lighten the mood.
"..Merida?" Rapunzel mumbled
"Yeah?" Merida asked.
She buried her face in Merida's chest, "I.. I don't want you to go.."
Merida blushed. "Whadda'you mean?"
"I've just, been alone for so long. I don't want to be by myself again..." She answered.
"But what about your.." Merida realized that the whole time she'd been there she never once saw her mother.
"She went out to get some more paint.. it was only supposed to take three days. but.. she hasn't come back." Rapunzel said, trying to choke back her tears.
"When did she leave?" Merida asked.
"it was so long ago, I don't remember. But even before then she'd go off and leave me here." She replied weakly.
Merida wiped Rapunzel's tears and hugged her tightly. "...I'll never leave you. I promise."
Rapunzel looked up and grinned "Really?" she asked happily.
Merida smiled at her face and replied, "Wouldn't dream of it."
Rapunzel's face turned red and she looked into Merida's eyes. Merida matched her gaze and started to lean forward. As their noses began to touch Rapunzel blurted out, "Uhm! i-i think you should go get our things now.."
Merida felt somewhat confused but nodded and went outside.
After collecting all their clothes Merida sat next to Angus and sighed. "Angus? Do you think she likes me back? I mean, I think we were about to kiss, would she've pulled away if she did?"
She and Angus sighed. "Maybe.. Maybe she just.. isn't ready?" She said in a slightly hopeful tone.
'Ugh I'm so stupid!' Rapunzel thought as she flung herself back on her bed. 'I'm such a scaredy cat. Why can't I just tell her how I feel... maybe she doesn't like me.." She contemplated while biting her nail.
