Janna Lynn stood in front of the mirror, judging myself like she did every single day before she left for school. You see, Janna was bullied at school for every little thing that stood out. The fact she weighed a little more than the other girls, that she had freckles, and dark brown eyes instead of blue. These were things that were out of control. As she stood in front of the mirror, she noticed that her reflection looked a little different, she couldn't tell what, but she knew something was off.
Deciding to forget about it, she picked up her bag and headed off to school where she knew her day would be ruined the minute she stepped into the entrance of the building. She stood correct, girls started ganging up on her, picking at every little flaw and little thing Janna already hated about herself. To escape the hellions, she shoved pass the girls and ran to the bathroom down the theater hall, which was rarely used.
There, she again stood in front of the mirror with tears running down her cheeks. She longingly stared at her reflection, wishing she could change it. As she stared at her reflection, she noticed that the reflections eyes got a little lighter, no longer brown, but instead, hazel. This baffled Janna Lynn, as she knew that wasn't her actual eyes. She furiously blinked, thinking it was just her imagination, but the reflections eyes stayed the same. Panicking, she quickly left the bathroom and then went to her first class.
Janna Lynn's day dragged on and on, as if time moved slower than a snail. She looked at the clock that was hanging above the door of her last class as her mind was consumed with the thought of her reflection from earlier, how it was slowly changing to what she wanted to be, rather than who she was. Once the bell rang, she slung her bag over her shoulder and bolted out the door to hurry and get home so she could look at her reflection once more.
She quickly arrived home, and ran up the stairs to her room, where she closed and locked the door behind herself so no one could interrupt what she was witnessing. Already, since the last time she looked at herself in the mirror, her reflection had changed. Her reflection had become thinner and her freckles were nearly gone. This put a smile on not only Janna Lynn's face, but her reflection's face as well. Janna looked down at herself, only to realize that she was, still in fact, the same. She looked back up, and her reflection didn't match. Her reflection was someone she wanted to be. Beautiful, confident. As she stood there motionless and staring at her dream, the reflection moved. A wicked, twisted smile grew on the reflections face, and she moved her hair out of her face. It walked closer to Janna, causing Janna to mirror the reflection.
Janna didn't understand what was happening. She was now walking towards the mirror without wanting to, without control. Her breathing hitched and she started hyperventilating as her reflection reached out pass the mirror, and grabbed Janna, all the while still wearing the awful smile upon her face. The reflection, the new Janna Lynn, stepped out of the mirror, and shoved the original Janna Lynn into the mirror, where she became trapped behind the glass and no way to break it. The new Janna Lynn started moving, testing out the Janna Lynn that was now her reflection, and the original Janna Lynn mirrored her without any control.
"This is what happens when you become ungrateful for what you have." The new Janna Lynn whispered.
She then unlocked the door and walked out of the room, with the original Janna Lynn screaming and banging on the inside of the glass mirror.
