Empty Footsteps

Everyone hears what they think are footsteps when they are alone. Most of the time, they can be proven not to be, most of the time it's just the house settling after a long day, where the floorboards and walls creak with agony after a long day. What about the other times? Is there someone in your house, or is it just your imagination?

It piques your interest and curiosity eats you alive. You want to check to see if anyone is upstairs or down the hall, but what would you do if there was someone or something there?

A white shadowed figure standing there, waiting for you, waiting for you to give in. what will you do once your face to face with the figure? You won't be able to scream, and if you do, no one will ever hear you. Your terror and fright will be muted, nothing comes out when you try to scream. You're completely defenseless as the figure gets closer and closer to you. You can't move, you're paralyzed.

Maybe you shouldn't give in to your curiosity to see what those footsteps are, after all. You'll never know what you will face.
