Balloon Animal

Melissa and Jorge, a young couple in love, decided to go to the abandoned amusement park that was a few towns over, that was supposed to be haunted. Before they went they bought a video camera, hoping to catch something on tape, as they were fascinated with the strange and paranormal. On the car ride there, they started having car troubles. First, it started out with flickering headlights and then flashing emergency lights on the dashboard. While Jorge drove closer and closer, Melissa swore she could hear the music of a Merry-Go-Round softly playing in the background of their drive, but Jorge couldn't hear a single thing besides the traffic passing by.

Finally, they reached their destination, but as they parked, the engine chugged and then died, not starting again. Not worrying about the car, the young couple got out, and Melissa readied the video camera. As it turned on, in the small screen, there was a clown covered in what appeared to be dirt, holding a single balloon animal of a red dog. Melissa looked up from the screen, and there was nothing there. She looked back down at the screen and the clown was gone.

With bolt cutters, they cut the chain link fence that surrounded the forgotten amusement park and slid right through the hole they made. They never knew why the park was abandoned, but they did know, something drastic occurred in the 1950s, and everyone who visited stayed clear of it after, and eventually it shut down because of the lack of funding.

Jorge and Melissa quietly lurked around the amusement park, hoping to see something. When they passed the infamous spinning teacups, the ride started up and started playing old broken music while each teacup ruggedly spun around and around. Melissa turned the camera towards the lively ride, and in a single teacup, sat a small girl with a monotone face, spinning around and around in the ride. The young woman gave the video camera to Jorge, but when he pointed it up to the teacup where Melissa saw the girl, she was gone. He looked around searching for her, only to find the girl standing behind Melissa, then she was gone, and the teacups stopped turning and the eerie music died down into silence.

Jorge noticed the little girl was covered in bruises and blood stains as if something bad had happened to her. He brushed off the sick feeling he was starting to get, and both of them kept moving forward, searching for more horrifying sights. Once again, Melissa saw the clown carrying the red balloon animal, but this time it was in person. The clown lurked around them and slowly started to follow them. This caused the couple to run, getting an awful eerie feeling from the dirty clown.

While running, the camera showed more children that weren't physically there, or that could be seen. They were spirits of children. Jorge looked behind him and saw that the dirt covered clown was right behind the couple and that he was carrying a sharp object, what it was Jorge couldn't tell. Each ride they passed turned to life and broken music filled the air, roller coaster carts slid along the rusty tracks, and rocket rides shot up only to plunge back down to earth. In the background of it all, cries of help could be heard, cries from the lost children, the missing children.

The clown got closer and closer, Melissa was crying at this point, not wanting their impending doom to grab hold of them. In the distance, there was a food shack. Both Melissa and Jorge ran in and locked the door behind them, hoping that it would keep the horrifying clown out. They hid while the clown searched for them, and as it got closer and closer, they noticed that it wasn't covered only in dirt but old blood stains as well.

On the counter of the food, the shack was filed full of papers. Melissa grabbed them out of curiosity while the lively sounds of the old amusement park surrounded them. The files were of missing children that all disappeared while visiting the park. The last file was of full of paperwork. Jorge grabbed the file out of Melissa's hands and flipped through the papers. There, it contained the profile of the clown, who was found guilty of kidnapping and murder of the missing children, he was executed in 1968.

While both of the young adults were lost in reading the files, reading each horrid thing this killer clown did, the locks of the doors slowly slid open, unlocking the door. The doorknob slowly turned and the door creaked open, and there standing was the apparition of the clown that was put to death by electric chair.

Both Jorge and Melissa were never to be found again, but the police who investigated their missing reports found the video camera and watched everything they witnessed.
