"I think you should stay here."
"Like hell!"
Bella was fuming in a way she hadn't realized possible. While she was gone, Steve and the others had managed to track down Thanos. With the help of the new flaming lady ( who didn't actually flame all the time, and was actually named Carol ), they felt like they could kill him. There was no way in hell Bella was missing out on her revenge. She looked between Steve, Nat, Rhodey, Bruce, Thor, Tony, Nebula, Carol, Pepper, and the little talking raccoon. They were staring at her with pity in their eyes.
"There's not enough seats for you on the ship," Steve said.
She rolled her eyes. "I'll stand."
"Bella, he almost killed you in Wakanda," Nat said.
"Yeah, after I stabbed him!" Bella threw her hands up and slammed them back down on the table. "I killed two of his alien goons! I can hold my own! I'm not a kid!"
"Yes, you are!" Tony suddenly yelled. Since he got back on Earth from two days ago, he looked healthier than he had been. Still, he didn't look his best. "You're not going!"
"Just because you let Peter die, doesn't mean that you can push your guilt on me!" Bella said. She shot him a vicious look and felt no guilt for the flash of sadness that crept across his face.
"I didn't let him—"
"I don't really give a shit, Tony!"
Her eyes stung with hot tears. She curled her hands around the back of the chair and felt the metal warp beneath her hands. And then Steve's hand was on her arm.
"Come on," he whispered quietly. "Let's talk."
She let him lead her back to her bedroom. The anger and fight had seeped from her veins. Instead, she just felt empty.
"Wanna tell me what's really wrong?"
Bella closed her eyes. "I could've— I was right there!"
If she'd just stabbed him in the head instead of the shoulder — God! She was so stupid. She could have stopped any of this from happening.
"I lost everything, Steve."
"I know," he whispered. "I know."
He pulled her in and hugged her tightly. It seemed to be all he did lately — give out hugs. Bella wasn't sure if he knew what else to do other than offer hugs. No words could offer comfort.
