I was running. Fast. The wind whistled in my ears as I bounded through the forest. My breaths became uneven as I pushed myself to run faster. I didn't know why. Was I running away from something? Or towards something? I didn't know. I just kept running. Suddenly, I heard a shrill scream and I stopped in my tracks. Was that- that sounded like my mother. I sprinted towards the scream.

"Mom!" I screamed at the top of my lungs, "Where are you!"

"Chloe!" my mother yelled, followed by another cry.

"Mommy, I'm coming," I howled as tears blurred my vision.

Finally, I found my mother. She was bleeding from her neck and was being held up by a vampire. Not just any vampire- Seth. He looked pure evil. Blood was dripping down from the corners of his lips, down to his jaw. His eyes locked on mine as he gave me a malicious grin.

"Hello, Chloe," Seth smirked menacingly, "Come to see your mother die?"

"L-Let her g-go, please," I choked out, trembling like a leaf.

"Fine, I will," he gave me a smug look before he reached for my mother's head and twisted it.

A sickening crack echoed through the forest and I froze as tears freely fell down my face. My mother. She was gone. Seth killed her.

Seth simply stepped over her body and rolled his shoulders.

His eyes then fixed on my stiff figure and his lips pulled into a malevolent smile, "Your turn."

That was all he said before he bared his fangs and sped over to me. I scream escaped my lips as he sunk his fangs in my throat.

I woke up with a start, gasping and clutching my throat. My heart was hammering in my chest as tears welled in my eyes. I choked back a sob but they kept coming. A dark figure approached me and I instantly pulled back. The figure reached over and turned on a lamp, causing me to blink several times before my eyes focused on a worried looking Seth. He tried to reach out to me but I hissed and flinched back.

"Chloe?" he asked, sounding confused.

"You killed her," I spat, feeling my tears creep down my face, "You killed my mother!"

"No, I did not," he furrowed his dark eyebrows together, "Chloe, that was a dream."

"But it was so real!" I wept as I huddled in my blankets.

"I know, I know," he spoke soothingly as he pulled me into a warm embrace.

I curled up against his bare chest as I sobbed. My family was dead. I thought I had come to peace with it, but I hadn't.

My mother.

My father.

My brother.

They were all gone.

Seth

My pet was getting me worried. She was sobbing and muttering 'Mommy', 'Daddy' and 'Jason' over and over again. I rubbed soothing circles on her back as she cried convulsively. I pulled away and cradled her face gently. Her lower lip was trembling and her cheeks were tear-stained. Her eyes were filled with tears; they looked so broken. I smoothened her hair back tenderly and looked in her green eyes.

"I would never hurt your family," I told her sincerely.

She shakily nodded and I pulled her body closer to mine and gave her arm one last squeeze before I got up and started to walk to my room.
