What just happened?

That mood swing he just had was bigger than the Titanic. First, he was fine and being his usual Seth self and then BOOM; suddenly he's this hot vampire bad guy.

Wait.

Hoooooold up.

Did I just say hot? What the fuck? How on earth was that hot? He just threatened to suck my precious blood or worse... he could've rid this world of me. That would have been a horrible catastrophe on so many levels. I'm not trying to brag but... Earth needs me.

Hold on, I'm getting distracted. I'm supposed to be mad. No, scrap that. I am furious. How dare he threaten me like that?

If only the roles were reversed. Life would be so much easier. I could just push annoying little Seth around because hey! I would be stronger than him so why the heck not? It would just cost him dignity and self-confidence. Pshhh. No biggie.

But, the roles aren't reversed therefore I have to get used to Seth treating me like a steaming pile of cow feces. Okay, he isn't that bad but you get my gist. He's a grade-A asshole.

Honestly, he's worse than me on my period, and that's bad.

And now I'm bored. Great.

I eventually decided that I was going to explore this mansion because I might as well; it's not like I have anything else to do.

Walking down the hallway, I observed the unearthly tidiness of the place. These leeches really were neat freaks, weren't they?

After about ten minutes of literally staring at stuff, I was just about ready to hit something. Why is boredom a thing? Couldn't every day be fun or at least the slightest bit interesting?

No, that's just too much to ask.

Fuck it, I'm going to Meredith's room.

"Hey, Mer." I started as I walked in. "Uh, Mer?"

I looked around for her. All her stuff was here but she wasn't. I then realized that the bathroom door was closed and the water was running. She was having a shower.

I gently knocked on the door, "Meredith?"

I heard the water stop. "Chloe?"

"Yeah, hi."

Momentarily, I could hear some hurried sounds of getting out of the tub and grabbing a towel before the door flung open. The moisture in the air hit me like a slap in the face. In the doorway was my best friend, sporting a messy bun and a towel hanging off her body. I had to laugh at the sight of her; she just looked so hilarious.

I suppressed my chuckles. "Okay, we have got to stop meeting like this."

"I know right?" She laughed as well. "So, what's up?"

"Honestly, nothing much. I'm bored and Seth's in a crappy mood," I replied, shrugging.

She arched an eyebrow. "What'd you do this time?"

My jaw dropped at the accusation. "What do you mean, 'what did I do'? I did nothing!"

"Seth doesn't get mad without a reason," she spoke as she rummaged through her cupboard for the maid uniform that she was forced to wear.

Thanks to Seth. The dickhead.

"Well... I may have tried to hit him... in the face."

Mer gave me an exasperated and knowing look over her shoulder as she headed to the bathroom to get changed. "Told you."

"He's still an asshole, though," I added on.

"If you think he's bad, you should see the other vampires," she said, trying to sound nonchalant but I could sense that there was something off about her tone.

"What do you mean, Mer?"

She took in a deep breath, her back still facing me before she turned around and sat in front of me on the bed.

"When I was around seventeen, I was sold as a maid to a different vampire; Luther."

I noticed the way her voice cracked at his name.

"He was powerful, ruthless and cruel. But for some reason, he took an interest in me because I was pretty and young, according to him."

I listened, watching her eyes glaze over slightly as she relived the memories.

"When he bought me, I wanted nothing more but to be inconspicuous. But that didn't happen. He always called me into his room or would get me to bring him towels while he was showering. It was extremely uncomfortable.

"After that, he would make me sit on his lap while I was cleaning, but not in an endearing way like Seth does to you. Luther didn't have the best intentions.

"It kept on getting worse, Chlo, he would touch me in inappropriate places, and I couldn't do anything about it.

I gripped her hand in mine, giving her the comfort that she needed. Her eyes had already started to tear up.

"Then, he did it. He r-raped me. I was a virgin. T-That's not even allowed in the v-vampiric rules," she sobbed out, tears falling.

I looked at her for a second. She had always been happy and cheerful; I'd never imagined that she had been this broken. Then, I squeezed her in my arms, letting her cry on my shoulder. I rested my chin on her shoulder as she wept. It felt as though she was letting out years of grief and sadness that she had been bottling up. I hated this; I hated seeing her like this.

"If I tried to resist, he would punish me; starve me for days after whipping me. It was horrible there.

"That's when Seth came. He happened to be there for a meeting and saw me. He read my mind and instantly got up and said that he was taking me with him. When Luther said no, Seth beat the crap out of him and took me to the car. Then he went back inside and said something to Luther that made sure that he never came back for me. Ever since then, I've been living here."

I gave her another hug, almost getting the feeling that she would be ripped away from me if I didn't. "I'm so sorry, Mer."

She sniffled a bit but didn't say anything.

I felt like I had never had a friend like her. Even though I haven't known her that long, I would die for and I had a feeling that she would do the same.

I had to apologize to Seth. The guilt I felt was eating away at me. He was just so good. Too good to be a vampire. I had to stop treating him like he was a piece of shit and actually treat him like a person. After what Mer told me, I don't think anyone has ever been more worthy of my respect than him.

I stayed the night with Mer. After she had wiped all her tears away, we had a movie marathon before we both fell asleep.
