Our walk through the forest wasn't exactly what I'd describe as 'pleasant'. Horrible was more like it.
I swatted yet another mosquito out of the air as I trudged through the greenery, following Seth who stalked through it without a problem. We followed the hobo dude further into the jungle until we reached a clearing which contained around fifty huts. A bonfire blazed in the middle of the site. Our hobo tour guide led us to a large tent-like thing. It looked rustic yet somewhat modern.
"Mr. Stone is in here, Your Majesty," the hobo dude bowed again, opening the door/cloth for us to enter.
Seth had to duck his head to step inside whereas I walked in easily. It looked much bigger on the inside, with a desk filled with stacks of papers and a staircase as well.
"Darren!" Seth growled.
"Seth," a young man walked up to us, smiling.
He had a brown trimmed beard along with a mop of dark hair and was a few inches shorter than Seth, but handsome nonetheless. Although, Seth was in a different league altogether. Darren had light green eyes which made him look a bit creepy and he wore casual clothing; a white shirt, a flannel, and jeans. He had a muscular build though, but he was more buff and stubby, unlike Seth who was lean and tall.
At this point, Seth looked furious. Oh boy, God help Darren.
Seth
Suddenly, Darren's face contorted into an expression of pure agony as he collapsed onto his knees, screaming. Chloe's gaze snapped to my face but I didn't spare her a glance. My expression was now void of emotion, my jaw slightly clenched. The dark side had taken over, and this time I let it. This is what Darren deserved.
"You sent that vampire to hurt someone close to me," I stated as Darren clutched his head, still screaming.
"I-I'm s-s-sorry," he wailed in pain, "M-Make it s-stop."
I honestly didn't give a crap about what Darren was saying. I only made the pain worse.
"You sent her as a 'warning'," I chuckled dryly, shaking my head, "Now, you will have to pay the consequences."
No one was ever stupid enough to cross me since there was only one way that ended; their funeral.
Chloe took a step closer to me but she was only going to get hurt, so I warned her, "Pet, come any closer and you will get hurt."
That made her freeze in her tracks.
I small smirk made its way to my lips; so she was still scared of me. Well, she should be.
I leisurely walked up to Darren as he curled up into a fetal position, shaking. I made the pain even worse. Darren let out a loud whimper, shuddering as tears slipped down his face.
I felt no remorse. This is what he deserved. He deserved death.
"Seth," Chloe spoke quietly, taking small steps towards me.
Is this human trying to get herself killed?
"Seth, please stop," she whispered desperately, her voice sounding rasped as if she was about to cry.
I looked back to see tears brimming her wide green eyes, her bottom lip quivering. I faltered slightly, taking in her expression. It was fear. She was scared. I felt my normal self flood back into my mind as I blinked a couple of times. I shifted my gaze to Darren, who peeked up at me, fear evident in his expression. I had made the pain stop. He shakily got up and brushed himself off.
"Chloe," I started, moving towards her but stopped when she flinched.
Immediately, I felt a pang of guilt. She was afraid of me. Just like everyone else.
She just turned away and fled from the tent. My sensitive hearing picked up on the quiet sobs that escaped her lips.
I chased after her, "Chloe, wait!"
She didn't.
Chloe
I ignored Seth and just ran. I didn't even know where the hell I was going, but I just sprinted through the dark forest.
It kinda feels like deja vu. Huh.
Suddenly, Seth was in front of me and I halted to a stop.
"Chloe, wait, please don't be angry," he pleaded.
I took in his tired eyes, his ruffled hair. It just made me more infuriated with him.
"Why do you even care?" I spat, tears streaming down my face, "I'm just a fucking pet anyway."
I let out a long, frustrated sigh.
"I just- I'm sorry, okay?" he spoke, sounding defeated.
He tried to reach out to me but I just snatched my hand away. The hurt that flashed in his eyes caused an ache in my heart but I just looked away. He was a monster. Someone who enjoyed inflicting pain on others.
"Just leave me alone," I choked out and stomped back to the campsite.
