At first, you woke up thinking it was going to be an okay day. You could hear the birds chirping, although you didn't know how, since it was New York, and the sun was shining through your curtains. But the illusion didn't last long.

You were out of conditioner, so it was brutal brushing through your hair; (dog name) threw up on your carpet, so you had to clean it; and you burnt your toast, which would've been fine except for the fact that you were already running late from cleaning up the floors so you couldn't make another one.

Why does this have to happen to me? you thought as you scrambled through your apartment.

You grabbed your keys, phone, and wallet before rushing out the door.

As you left your apartment, you bumped into someone, making your drop your phone onto the floor. "Shi*t," you mumbled as you went to pick it up. You almost asked if this day could get any worse, but you didn't want to test your amazing luck.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (A/N: see, this may look like a time skip, but it's really just me holding down the key until words popped into my head and I didn't feel like deleting it)

Looking around, you noticed that everything felt oddly normal, like there was a plan set for every person around you, and that plan was going to take place. For a few moments you felt at peace- with your terrible morning, Matt disappearing, Bea leaving, everything.

You continued walking, noticing small details that made your day better: the old lady watering the flower bed outside her window, the group of kids playing tag in between the people walking down the sidewalk, even the young man sitting on a bench eating a muffin. Everything felt right and this made you want to keep walking. It pushed you to forget all of the doubt and sadness you've been feeling and it replaced those feelings with hope that something good was going to happen. That you were going to get your life together. That everything was going to be alright.

Before you realized it, you were in the business district of New York. You texted Carly, telling her you wouldn't be able to show up to work today because you were sick. You didn't wait for a response before putting your phone away since you knew that she was too nice of a person to make you come in if you were feeling under the weather.

After the realization of having a day off hit you, you started to make a game plan for the day. I need to eat, then I could go to Central Park and-

"Excuse me, miss?"

You turned around, surprised by the fact that someone was talking to you in the middle of New York. When you got a full glimpse of the lady, you saw that she was wearing the universal tourist shirt.

"Yes?" you replied, trying to sound as friendly as possible.

She looked up at the buildings, confusion written across her face. "I was wondering if you could help point us to the Empire State Building," she said, gesturing to the people behind her. There was an older looking man, most likely her husband, and a younger woman.

"Oh, yeah of course," you turned around to point towards the destination, "it's about two blocks-" You were cut off by the younger woman screaming towards the sky. You looked up, not sure about what she was screaming at, until you saw them.

The moments after your realization were a bit blurry, but you were able to make out the older lady trying to pull you towards the nearest building. It took a few head shakes, but eventually you were snapped out of the daze you were in and your mind started working.

"Get indoors!" you screamed at the family, following them once they began running. You almost made it until a frantic group of people came and pushed you to the ground. Sitting up, you heard a ringing noise in your ear. You reached your hand up to your head, suddenly feeling dizzy. Pulling it away, you saw red.

The sight worried you, but it also gave you enough energy to stand up. When you did, you noticed that most of the people were off of the streets. You felt panic starting to rise within your throat, but you held it down. Suddenly, you heard a loud crashing sound coming from behind you and your fight-or-flight response kicked in.

Your feet seemed to be moving on a mind of their own as you kept gaining speed until you reached a bridge. On it, you saw three people: one in blue spandex and two in black. They were all fighting some type of purple monster before something was thrown at them that cause an explosion. Dodging it, they began running towards you, too busy avoiding explosions to see you.

You tried to find something, anything to hide behind as they got closer, but to no avail. So all you could do was stand there, waiting for them to run you over, until they stopped.

Your vision was starting to fade, but you could make out one of them was coming closer to you. As they approached, you noticed that they were in all black except for a few spots of purple. And as your eyes moved up to see their face, you froze. You would recognize that resting bi*tch face anywhere.

"Mark?" You yelled, before everything went black.
