First day of school

Coral POV

It's my first day of school and I'm really nervous.

I like school a lot but being the new student it's no fun because you will be the center of attention.

My name is coral Edward, I'm 17 and I live with my dad.

My mum died of cancer last year,so me and my dad had to move to a different location.

I have an elder brother,but I don't know his whereabouts and my dad is always telling me that my brother is a disappointment to the family.

I carried my bag with me downstairs,I got to the kitchen and saw my dad lying drunk on the floor with a bottle of beer in his hands.

Ever since my mum died and my brother went missing,my dad has taken into drinking and it's now an addiction for him.

He isn't abusive but he always drink a lot and comes home drunk.

I slowly took the beer from his hand not wanting to wake him up.

I placed the bottle on top of the kitchen table.

I'm going to school now,bye dad,I bent down and kissed his cheeks.

I did know where my school is located but getting there was a problem because it will take an hour of walking to get there.

If only mum didn't die,we won't be here,we wouldn't have to leave everything behind,dad wouldn't have been drinking.

I wiped my tears away as I continued to walk to school.

I turned back to see someone walking behind me.

She slowly waved at me,I didn't want to seem rude,I waved back.

She quicken her step to meet up with me.

Hey,I'm Eloisa, she smiled.

I'm coral,I blushed.

I'm not used to talking to people,my mum used to say I was quiet and reserved,I miss her.

I looked at Eloisa taking in her appearance,she was quiet taller than me and she has a pretty face and her hair was placed in a ponytail making her pointed nose and small lips point out.

Are you new around here,she asked as we continued to walk.

Yeah,I'm on my way to school,I smiled.

Really?!, me too,she laughed.

Since there's only one public school here, we must be going the same direction, she said.

I nodded my head in understanding.

We got there quicker than I thought.

I looked at my new school and it was breathtaking for a public school and it was really beautiful.

People looked at me as I made my way inside the school building.

So much for being the new student, I thought.

My mouth went wide open when I entered the building, it was more beautiful than the outside.

Eloisa pulled me towards the principal office.

I thanked her entering into the office,only to be met with two other student in the office with an angry lady looking at the two guys in her office.

Immediately I closed the door,their eyes looked at me.

I counted to 10,trying to breathe.

The lady frown later turned into a big smile when she noticed me.

Welcome dear,you must be coral,she smile.

Yes ma,I said.

The two guys were still looking at me and it was really uncomfortable.

She handed me my class schedule,my locker number and a little map in case I get lost.

She then turned her attention to the guys.

I won't want this repeating it self,she said to the two guys.

Yes ma,one of them said with a bored expression.

Now you can leave,she said.

One of the guys smirked at me before leaving the office with the other guy.

I took a deep breathe calming myself.

You may leave now,the lady smiled at me.

I thanked her and left her office.

I still have 15 minutes before the bell ring.

I decided to look for my locker,it wasn't hard to find.

I put in my code as the locker opened.

I looked at my schedule, I had maths first.

Sweet.

I put in the books I won't be needing inside in my locker.

I closed my locker and I could feel people burning holes through me with their eyes.

I walked faster to get away from who ever was looking at me.

I quickly looked for my first class.

I opened the door and noticed that there was just one girl sitting at the front seat.

Good morning, I greeted her.

She looked me up and down before going back to her book.

I wonder why are some people rude.

I took a seat at the middle close to the window.

Shortly after,people started entering the class.

Nobody wanted to sit close to me,they avoided me like I had a disease.

I won't feel bad because of it.

Coral,someone called my name.

I look up quickly to see Eloisa standing in front of me.

Hey,I smiled.

Can I sit with you,she asked shyly.

Sure,I said.

I was happy that she decided to sit with me.

The teacher entered the class afterward and lecture began.

I was scared she was going to ask me to introduce myself but she didn't.

After classes, since me and Eloise were going the same direction, we decided to go home together.

I had most of my classes with her and she kept me company through out the whole day.

When we got to her house,I thanked her for today,I continued my journey home.

I opened the door to my house,I entered inside and a loud crash made me jump up in fear.

I slowly went to were I had heard the noise.

I saw someone trying to break into our house through the back door.

I scream in fear,the person noticed that he was caught.

He quickly stopped and ran.

I was still screaming when my dad came out of his room.

I guess my scream woke him up.

What's wrong?,my dad asked hugging me.

I saw someone trying to break into our house,I sniffed.

Its okay,they won't hurt you,he said.

My dad stayed with me until I was fast asleep.

I'm so happy that I'm not only,I still have my dad.
