"C'mon, please? I wanna take pictures of you." Symphony giggled.
"Not while I'm looking like this." I rolled my eyes and slid on a hoodie and gym shorts. She still laid in her all white lengerie. I turned the lights on as she aimed the camera at me. "Symphony, I wi--" *click*.

I stared at her, then we both began to giggle

I took it from her hands.
"At least I'll be nice enough to let you at least get ready." I said. She laid one of her blankets out on the floor and laid on it seductively.

I stared at her after lowering the camera from my eye.
"What?" She giggled.
"You are so... beautiful." I breathed. She covered her smile. I climbed on top of her, grinning and kissing her neck.
"Kyjuan," She giggled.
"Yes?" I smiled at her and continued to kiss her.
"C'mon, we just---" She began softly.
"And if you keep sitting here in just this, then it's gonna have to be round 2." I smirked at her. There was a loud bang from the living room that made Symphony jump. I furrowed my eyebrows.
"Stay here." I pointed at her. I got up, fists balled tight, shutting the room door behind me to find Trenton stumbling into the front door. "Boy what the hell is wrong with you?" I asked, undoing my hands. He looked flushed of color and like he'd seen something traumatizing.
"Dad!" He said, realizing I was there. "We gotta go. We gotta get outta here, we have to leave now!" He said, hurrying to his room and putting clothes in this bag he had on his back. Symphony came out in just sweatpants and my t-shirt and her hair in a high ponytail.
"Trent? What's going on?" She called.
"You guys, please, just listen to me we have to grab what we can and go now!" He said, almost out of breath.
"Trent, breathe man. What's going on?"
"I gotta tell you after we're already gone. Where's Donna?"
"She's still out." I said.
"C'mon we gotta go get her, the sooner the better." He said, standing back up.
"Trent!" I said, shaking him with my arms on his shoulders. "Talk to me."
"Dad... I will. As soon as we get on the road. I promise. Just trust me, we have to get going literally at this very moment!" He said. "Grab some clothes, Mom will you make Donna a bag too?" He said, grabbing more of his clothes and slinging the bag over his chest. Symphony nodded and went into Donna's room. I sighed and went and made a bag. What the hell is going on?
"You guys ready?" Trenton said about 5 minutes later. I carried Symphony and Donna's bag along with mine. Trenton began turning off everything in the house and locking all of the doors, the windows, and shutting every curtain and blind. We went out the front door and I locked it behind us. We all got into Symphony's car.
"Where's Donna?" I asked, in the first stage of a panic.
"At her boyfriend's, I'll tell you the directions." He said, hands on both of the front seats. Her boyfriend's? Since when did my princess have one of those things?
I pulled out of the driveway and went where Trenton told me to go. He knocked on the door, practically yanking Donna from inside of the house and putting her in the car.
"Is this a road trip? It would've been nice for a couple of days' notice." She said cluelessly.
"Since when did you have a boyfriend?" I asked. Her face began to turn red.
"We'll worry about that later. Dad, this is serious. Lives are at risk." Trenton said quickly.
"Lives? Trent what the hell is going on?" Symphony said.
"Mom, I..." He began, sighing. "We need to go to a hotel. Far away for now."
"Far away? Your father and I have jobs and we also have money that we were going to use on taking care of us, not out of town hotels." She said.
"Don't worry about it I've got it, okay? Just get us to Riverdale. Stop at a gas station on the way." He said, contemplating. I sighed.
I pulled over to a gas station that we approached 5 minutes later. Trenton grabbed something from his bag then went in, walking more tense then I had ever seen him before. He came back out shortly and filled the car all the way up. He slyly got back in. Symphony was just as alert as I was, Donna was on her phone.
I pulled out and sped out of town. Riverdale was only about 20 minutes away. We went all the way through Riverdale, right at it's city limits toward exiting the city, there was a hotel.
"Okay, park around the back of it and hurry inside." Trenton said, grabbing him and Donna's bag. I pulled around the back and parked, turning the car off. Me and Symphony grabbed our bags and we went inside. Trenton went into his bag by the door. Symphony and Donna followed me to the desk.
"Hello." A bright woman said to me. Her hair was long, voluminous and red, she had green eyes, smooth looking skin, plump lips, long eyelashes, a curvy figure, and medium length nails. She eyeballed me.
"Yeah uh, 2 nights?" I said. She kept staring.
"Of course." She said softly. Trenton came back over.
"A week." Trent said. Me and Symphony looked at him.
"Uh--of course. That'll come out to $340.00" She said. Trenton pulled out 4 $100 bills from his pocket and told her to keep the change. She gave us a key and we went to our room on the 3rd floor. He tossed he and Donna's bag on one of the queen beds in the room. I threw mine and Symphony's on the other.
"So? You have some explaining to do Trent." Symphony crossed her arms and sat at the foot of our bed. I sat next to her. Donna sat by him on the foot of their bed.
"Whats up, son?" I asked, trying to get him to speak. It seemed he was stuck. He sighed.
"There's no easy way to explain it. There's a reason I've been hanging out with and spending the night so much more at Eric's recently." He began. I squinted. He took his bag and sat it on the floor, pulling out his clothes and throwing them on the bed, and then, with regret, reaching for something else but paused as his hand was in the bag. He took a deep breath and pulled it out. Symphony whimpered when she saw it, and freezing in place. He pulled out a gun and put it on the bed. We were all silent. He then proceeded to pull out 2 more guns, and 3 extremely thick hand fulls of $100 bills. We were still silent. I was silent mostly because of the fact I distinctly remember those guns. He dumped the rest of the bag out. I sighed.
"Mom, I bailed you out today." He said flatly. Symphony looked like she was about to go into shock. "I've been doing... things for a little over a month now." He said.
"What are things?" I said flatly. He tried to speak but no words came out. "Trenton!" I said firmly.
"Selling. And... other things."
"Alright, look. I want you to just tell me everything. Since things couldn't be discussed before all this happened." I said, crossing my arms. Donna looked scared.
"Eric put me on with this... man. This weird man. Not too weird but... deadly weird And we've been... getting things done for him for a little over a month now and I've been getting pretty good money for it."
"Getting things done like what?" I asked.
"Like.. just getting money and handling...handling people that have been issues to the whole business."
"Handling people like who?" I squinted, feeling my body tense up. Trenton was silent. "Trenton!" I raised my voice.
"That Anthony guy and--and--"
"My cousin?!" Symphony screeched.
"Mom I swear on everything I didn't know!" Trenton said.
"What the hell are you even doing that shit for?!" Symphony began to cry. I rubbed my forehead.
"I just--just wanted to make things easier." He sighed.
"Don't they remind you of a certain duo?" She said sarcastically. I rolled my eyes. It was exactly what I was afraid of. My heart dropped due to the feeling of having failed as a father. "I need some air." She said, wiping her eyes and walking toward the door.
"Mom, it's not safe please don't go out right now." Trenton said. She sighed and went into the bathroom and began running water.
"Trent.. I don't know where to begin." I said. "Just explain the whole thing to me."
"Okay, I--" He began and took a deep breath. "The night Eric was supposed to have the guys over last month, it was only us and he took me to this guy's house who was having a party and it turns out it's a gateway for dirty work and--"
"Who is the guy?" I squinted.
"I don't know his full name, I just know his first name is Alonzo." He said. I froze, staring at him. "Dad?"
"Trenton... the only reason I'm not killing you right now is because we'd be wasting time. What we need to do is find out what's going on and why we need to hide." I said. I had a feeling I already knew.
"Because, there was a--a sample left by the police office and it made him really upset, and there was this fight and I kinda.. made sure I had defense."
"So not only did you make this man upset, you stole from his house? Trenton why the--" I started the covered my hands with my face. "Trent. Come, we need to talk." I said firmly and went outside. He followed. We stood in the shadows of trees. "Do you realize that this same thing is what kept me out of your and your sister's lives for so long?"
"Yes you told me before but---"
"But what? Do you realize that this is the same person responsible for this scar?" I asked, lowering the collar of my shirt. He gulped. "Trent the shit is not a game, what the hell were you thinking?!"
"I just--just wanted to make things easier and---and maybe partially experience new things, it wasn't what I expected at first I swear it wasn't." He said.
"Look man, you don't play with fire, you don't know how bad you could get burned. I taught you better than this!" I said, then went into the hotel as he followed.
Donna had changed into her pajamas and laid in the bed watching TV and scrolling through her phone. Trent changed into gym shorts, slides and a t-shirt and I sat on the bed just thinking about everything. Symphony came out of the bathroom, still shaken up. She had a towel wrapped around her hair.
"Alright look. I have a plan, because I've dealt with this guy before." I began. Symphony looked at me as if she was giving a silent guess. I nodded. "Now, the motives may be that he's still trying to get at me and my family. Which would explain him getting Trenton to do these wild things."
"Why would he still be trying to get back at you, Dad?" Trent asked.
"Because, remember that bullet mark I showed you? He was trying to kill the people around me, Angelique and my man Calvin. He killed Calvin point blank, he was about to kill her but I jumped in front of it. He was out of bullets before the police pulled up and got caught. His main goal has been to either ruin or get rid of the people specifically surrounding me." I said. Symphony stared at the floor. "So, what I suggest, " I began as I grabbed the guns. I put all three of them in the nightstand by the bed Symphony and I were sharing. "Trent, do not shoot or do anything. Your main objective is to keep yourself and Donna out of harm's way and out view. By all and any means. Keep your phone on you at all times, the both of you." I said. I got up and locked the door and shut the curtains. "I'll stay up tonight and keep watch, you guys go ahead and rest up." I said. Donna looked around cautiously and got under the blanket. Symphony breathed shakily and did the same. I turned the TV on and relaxed on the couch. Trenton came by soon after.
"Dad, I'm truly sorry." He said again.
"I know." I said. "We don't have time to sulk, though."
"Yeah, but... now everyone is in danger because of me."
"No, " I began. "Because of me. If I hadn't gotten involved nothing would have ever happened. Which is why I'm not exactly too pissed off right now. Do you feel like you can't talk to me or something?"
"No it's not that, I just didn't want you or Mom to be ashamed of me." He mumbled.
"You're my son, man. I'd never be ashamed of you. Don't say that, c'mon." I said. He shrugged. "Did you do anything at his get togethers though?"
"Yeah. A lot of stuff." He said openly. "I.. did almost every drug he had present, slept with a lot of girls. It was pretty fun."
"Yeah? Well I hope you learned something from it all. Although it may seem like it's rewarding by all of the money, the girls, the parties, the drugs, the respect, it's not in the long run. I'm always gonna be straight up with you son, yes it's fun and addictive and it makes you feel like you're on top of the world, but at the same time, I lost my grandma. I lost my best friend. I lost getting to watching my kids grow up. You're in the same boat. You lost your girl, everyone seems to be in danger. You're facing a shit ton of charges at this point." I sighed. He rubbed his temples. "Look... I feel like it's my fault. All because of one dumb choice I made as a kid that put others at risk. A choice that didn't let me be here to raise you right. And all of it is my fault. So I'm not upset over any of this, and don't blame yourself over it. It's n--"
"Dad, I'm sorry but shut up. You always blame yourself." He started. My eyes widened. "You've been literally the number one father I've seen since I've been alive. Half of my homeboys don't even have dads, the other half knows them but their dad's barely pay attention to them. Trust me, I've sat and thought about it all and I'm more than proud to have someone as dope as you as my dad, okay? I never blamed you since Mom first told me the truth when I asked where my dad was. I judged based on whether you decided to turn it around after the fact, and after knowing we exist. And you've done an amazing job. Like, I really couldn't be prouder to tell people you're my dad." He said in a serious tone. Don't get choked up Kyjuan. Do not.
"Damn it why are you so much like your mother?" I asked. He chuckled.
"I'm like the both of you." He said.
"No doubt about that." I muttered. "Hey,"  I began. "Just in case, we need to dump those drugs out and put that money up." He nodded.
"You know how to clean off fingerprints and chemicals?" He asked me. I sucked my teeth.
"Of course I do." I said.
He handed me a pair of gloves and put a pair on himself. I looked in the cabinets and found rubbing alcohol. I swabbed everything in rubbing alcohol and lightly coated the guns in the liquid as well while keeping the gloves on. We put everything back in the bookbag and Trenton put it on and took his gloves off. I looked to Symphony and Donna who were fast asleep.
We went out through the back dumped everything in the dumpster and silently got back in. I took the gloves off and casually we walked back to the room, locking the door behind us.
He began too stick the stacks of money between his clothes in his suitcase. He put 3 stacks inside Donna's bag first. I read the tag on the band. Each stack was $10,000. He handed 7 stacks to me and put 7 into his mother's bag, inconspicuously between her clothes. I did the same with what he gave me. He put 3 stacks inside the clothes in his bag as well.
"Just in case something happens. Even if it doesn't, I still want you guys to have something." He smirked. I nodded.
We put our bags all together and talked a bit longer on the couch until Trenton fell asleep. I made myself stay up.
