"C'mon Calixta we'll be late!"

"I'm coming!", you yelled.

Your best friend, Ana, wanted you to travel with her for the summer. Egypt was the goal. You always held a fascination for the country, so you were incredibly excited. Ana was an Egyptologist. You were her assistant. You loved your best friend dearly. Sometimes it had its perks. If it wasn't for her, you wouldn't have managed to carry out your dream. You've always wanted to study Egyptology, and now you officially could. You and Ana were pretty well known in the world of Egyptology. Your kindness, consideration, and determination are what helped you get passed the Egyptian government. They trusted you with artifacts. Since you worked from home, artifacts were often sent to your office for you to look into. You were always respectful of the Egyptians. However, working from home became an issue. The government wanted you to look into the corpses or 'mummies' as they would say. That's why you decided to go for the summer. This way, you could work and enjoy a small vacation. You had some knowledge on curating, and so did Ana. This only gave you more of a boost when it came to your occupations.

Although both of you had some similarities when it came to Egyptology, you were both known for different things.

Ana, was well known for her skills in exploration. She always managed to depict the clues that other egyptologists would miss out on. In a sense, it almost felt magical.

Swiftly, you packed your suitcase before walking out the door. Ana impatiently started the car, spinning the steering wheel at an impeccable speed.

Before you could even grab onto your seat belt, your back slammed into the seat cushion,

"Can you please be careful?!"

"Sorry!"

You always managed to injure your back.

'Must be bad luck' you thought.

You stared out the window, deep in thought. You felt as if something was going to happen. You couldn't explain it, but you felt it in your soul. Whatever it was, it felt good.
You looked down, pulling out your favorite duel monsters cards. The dark magician and the dark magician girl. Ana had gotten them for you on your seventeenth birthday. You smiled.

Egypt wouldn't be so bad.

~~~~~~~ at the airport 1 hour later~~~~~
Ana ended up being right. You were very late. The two of you scattered through airport security and onto the plane. You wiped the sweat from your brow, inhaling deeply,
"Ahhh finally we can go to Egypt! This is so exciting."
You watched as she pulled out a blanket, getting cozy in her window seat. You chuckled before looking away. Her uplifting spirit always managed to make you happy.
Sometimes it felt as if you had known her for ages...
Your train of thought was interrupted by a sudden kick at your foot. You glared at the female before sighing,
"Don't be mad princess. I'll buy you an Egyptian souvenir once we get there. I'm sorry for driving so fast."
You slightly perked up. Having a souvenir from your favorite place in the world would be a great memory.
You sighed contently,
"Fineeeee"
For the rest of the flight, you and Ana discussed the plan. As you conversed, Ana brought up a previously asked question,
"Why don't you move to Egypt with me? I mean you are my assistant after all"
You silently thought to yourself before responding,
"I don't have that type of money to live there. I think I'm fine living in America"
"Calixta, I really want you to stay with me. I mean we're literally Egyptologists!"
You glanced at woman,
"You're an Egyptologist. I'm just an assistant"
Ana sighed,
"You know what I mean woman"
You didn't want to move from your home. Although you had some Egyptian ancestry, that did not change how you felt. You were set on staying in (h/n).
"Can I at least try to change your mind on this trip?"
You chuckled,
"Sure, anything to keep you out of my hair"
You both chuckled.
