Chapter 28: Military Arrival

“So, is there anyone who would like to volunteer to go first in the Arena for today?” Goodwitch asked. She expected no one to raise their hand, or at least one person would raise their hand and then she would have to pick someone at random. It was always like that in this classroom, regardless of the students, what grade they’re in and all of that. It was always the same.

“I’ll go” Sun replied as he raised his hand. Hunter also raised his hand at the same time as he glared at Sun from across the room. Blake looked at the two guys in disbelief; they were really going to do this? Sun and Hunter walked past each other and glared at one another before entering one of the two prep rooms. Hunter loaded his explosive rounds and made sure Assassin’s Howl’s flamethrowers were working, which as usual they were. Sun had been ready since entering the Prep room, so he immediately ran out into the arena. Out of the darkness of the Prep room the hooded leader of Team HNTD walked out, holding Assassin’s Howl in his hand as he glared at Sun. Sun held onto his boa-staff gunchucks and got into fighting stance.

“You may begin, now!” Glynda shouted as the alarm went off for the fighters to begin their combat. The second the alarm went off, both Sun and Hunter quickly pulled out their weapons. Sun began to charge towards Hunter, but Hunter had predicted this. He aimed the revolver form of Assassin’s Howl at Sun and shot multiple rounds at Sun. However, Sun was quickly and had incredible reflexes, using the boa staff to block the incoming bullets. Assassin’s Howl reverted back into its bladed form as Hunter tried to slash under the staff once Sun was close enough. Predicting this, Sun changed the staff into the pair of nun chucks, locking the two weapons together. Hunter grinned as he put his finger on the 2nd trigger, the trigger that fired off the flame throwers. Sun noticed this and instinctively jumped back as far as he could. The fact Assassin’s Howl had two flame throwers made anyone fighting Hunter that much more cautious.

Hunter waited for Sun to make his move, pointing his blade right at the blonde haired Faunus. Sun made an attempt to move to the left to throw Hunter off, but Sun was brought to a sudden halt as flames spewed just inches in front of him. “Hunter’s never used his flame throwers in combat before..” Ruby noted, her observational skills kicking in, “This fight must be important to him”. Yang only nodded in agreement, her focus was entirely on the fight.

Hunter than threw Sun off guard as he loaded freezing shots into the revolver’s chamber. Hunter grinned as he waited for Sun’s move. He had known that Sun would be the first one to advance. Sure enough, Hunter was right. Hunter attempted to shoot the freezing shots at his rival, but Sun’s shotgun rounds proved enough to block the blasts. Hunter then charged at Sun, the blade and the nun chucks clashing against each other over and over again. Hunter jumped back and used a freezing round on Sun’s legs, encasing him in ice. Hunter quickly loaded in special on-contact explosive rounds and pointed his weapon at Sun.

“Your move” Hunter shouted with a grin. Sun waited for a minute, before using his nun chuck shotguns to blast the ice away, and before Hunter could react, Sun was in front of him, beating him to a pulp. The crowd gasped as the one sided fight was now turned over to Sun. His victory didn’t last long however, as Hunter eventually started to evade the furious swipes that Sun had been throwing. Sun transformed the nun chucks back into a boa staff, hoping to throw Hunter off. The staff clashed against Assassin’s Howl, the blade pushing heavily against the staff. Hunter moved to the right, letting his blade down so that Sun would lose balance as the force he was putting into the staff lead him to stumbling. Hunter grabbed Sun by the throat and put the revolver form of Assassin’s Howl to Sun’s head.

“Be glad this isn’t a real life or death fight” Hunter mumbled, keeping a firm grip on Sun’s neck, “Otherwise, I’d make your head explode right about now”. Sun dropped him weapon, once he did, Hunter let Sun go.
