Chapter 21: Team DARC

Thalia sighed as she sat down at her chair and placed her textbook down on the desk. She was not in the mood to be dealing with Professor Port, which means that she was not in the mood for his tall tales, regardless of how much of a fool he was making of himself. Unfortunately today Yang and Weiss did not have the same class, meaning Thalia was all alone. She looked around the room to see if there were any other students in the room besides her.

She noticed Jaune Arc and Lie Ren talking amongst eachother in the far right corner of the room, but Thalia didn’t want to disturb them. She also noticed this odd looking woman with dark purple hair, wearing some form of dress, but it was unlike anything Thalia had seen. The dress was both poofy and frilly at the same time; it would be elegant if the girl wearing it wasn’t so... odd.

At first the girl seemed normal, other than the intense speed of her writing. The thing that was odd was how students would greet her as if she was super popular, yet Thalia had never seen her before, or even heard of this girl. A few students avoided all eye contact and moved as far away from this girl as possible, while others only wanted to get closer. Occasionally the girl would look up at the more distant students and twitch slightly. The girl with the dark purple hair looked at Thalia,

“You there, do you have a moment?” The girl asked as she gestured for Thalia to come closer. Thalia could not bring herself to smile as she approached the girl’s desk, she was far too confused and curious to smile at the moment. “I don’t believe we’ve met” the girl stated, “I’m Alice Illudere, pleasure to meet you” Alice greeted normal enough. Thalia glanced over at the students who were keeping their distance from Alice. One boy in particular was shaking as he mouthed the word “No” while shaking his head.

“Nice to meet you, Alice” Thalia replied as she pretended to go along with whatever Alice was planning. Clearly this woman wasn’t what she seemed. “I’m Thalia Serene”.

“Thalia?” Alice questioned as she made a mental note to remember Thalia’s name, “Tell me about you” Alice suggested. Thalia was really uncomfortable with all of this, especially since she did not trust Alice at all.

“Well, there’s not much to say!” Thalia answered, “I’m in Team HNTD and I want to become a Huntress, nothing more” she explained. Alice’s right eye twitched slightly at the mention of Team HNTD,

“Team HNTD? The team led by Hunter Armbruster? He seems to be quite a... hooligan” Alice commented as she smiled creepily. The students around her smiled as if Alice was making some kind of joke, despite how much this disturbed Thalia. “You’ll have to excuse these few, I have the highest grades in the school and I work on the side lines with the school board” Alice explained. Thalia could not shake the unpleasant feeling she got from being around Alice, and the concept of Alice being with the school board was even more unpleasant. Professor Port thankfully walked into class as soon as the bell rang,

“Well, it was nice meeting you” Thalia said as she began to walk back to her desk. “Oh, and Thalia” Alice spoke loudly from across the room, “Make sure to report any... bad behaviour to me at once, okay?” Alice said quieter once Thalia focused her attention back at her.

“For the record, Pyrrha and Jaune is probably one of the cutest things I’ve ever seen” Yang stated proudly. Ruby nodded and squealed, “I agree!!” Hunter had little to no clue how he ended up in this situation. As far as he could tell, he went to talk to Blake and then Yang dragged the two of them into the Cafeteria to socialize with Ruby and Weiss. Had Blake not been there Hunter would’ve been long gone.
