Dean POV

Dean couldn't believe what he was hearing in the other room. He had just walked down to get a glass of water. Now he was wishing that he had just staying upstairs in the safety of Castiel's room. If he had stayed there, he would be blissfully ignorant. He would be able to live his life as if there was nothing wrong.

"He found 'em." The words spoken by Bobby continued to float around Dean's head as he stayed on the outside of the door. After hearing those words he wasn't able to think or even remember why he was here in the first place. If he had found them, that means that John was pissed. When John is pissed nothing ever comes good from it. Dean could feel old injuries begin to throb and his breathing become uneven.

If John - No, when John comes for him, Dean knew that he would just have to go with him. There was no way he would be able to get out of it. He had too many people here and around him that he cared about to chance John hurting them. The thought of John hurting his new family sent chills down his spine. The things that man could do to someone with a knife alone was something that he would not wish on anyone. He knew that he would do anything to keep that monster away from them. There was nothing that man could do to him that would hurt more than if someone got hurt trying to protect him.

Dean sighed. As much as he wished he never over heard the conversation in the kitchen, he was relieved he had. If he hadn't, he would not know that he needed to keep an eye out for his brother and Cas, and maybe Gabriel a little. There wasn't much he could do about it at the moment though, so he pushed it to the back of his mind. It was not something he wanted to dwell over when he knew that nothing was going to happen tonight or else Bobby would be in hysterics. Or at least he hopes that there would be some way to tell. He didn't want to live his life in fear like he had the first part. He wanted to break free of the old pattern and learn how to look at the brighter side of it all. Like tonight, for example. He had Castiel. That boy had helped him so much it was insane. Dean couldn't imagine anyone caring about him or any of his problems. But here they were, in the form of a scrawny teenage boy with messy hair and blue eyes.
Forgetting his water, he made his way back up to the room where said boy was.

Opening to the door to the room he seemed to spend more time in than his own room, Dean scanned to room to see Cas lying on the edge of his bed with his head hanging off. "What are you doing?"

"Do you ever think about the possibility that we could be looking at the world upside down?" Castiel wondered.

"What?" He asked as he walked over to the bed to lay down beside him hoping that maybe he would understand what he meant by getting his perspective. Dean would be lying if he said he wasn't lost at half of the things that the boy said, but he didn't pay it any mind. Castiel liked to explain things when he was confused and Dean enjoyed listening to him. Even if the topic was something meaningless.

"Like, what if, we were all supposed to see things the other direction. So when we are 'upside down' per say, we are actually right side up." Castiel went on to explain the topic and his thoughts on it so vividly that he almost had Dean believing that his whole vision of the world was a lie.

"Cas?" Dean whispered after Cas had quieted down and they had righted themselves on the bed. That is after a major head rush that had them both dizzy and giggling slightly.

"Yeah, Dean?"

Dean looked over to see curious eyes staring back at him already. He always found it comforting that he never had to worry if the other boy was listening or not. A simple look would tell him that no matter the topic, he always had his full attention. "What if something happens. Something that could potentially ruin everything. What would you do? What would we do?"

"Dean, I feel like there is a deeper meaning to this, but I won't ask about it now. Just know you can tell me anything. " Castiel said always looking right through Dean. "But anyway, if something like that were to happen, I would first find out if everyone was okay. Because that's all that really matters in the end, as cliché as that may sound. And to make it even worse, Dean, I would find you. And the two of us would power through it because that is what we are good at. And it just so happens, we are better at it together. Nothing would be able to stop us." Cas sat up and then proceeded to pull Dean up beside him to lean against the head board with him. "We would be a force to be reckoned with. I can see it now Dean. The two of us would be on top and would look out for our family and protect them with everything we had, no matter the situation. Then later, at the end of the day, when it was just us, we would lay down together at the end of the day, kind of like we are right now, and just relax. Because, between you and me, that would be the only time the two of us would ever do that, right. I mean it is the only time we, or at least I do now, so why not then."

Cas continued on for a while and, like always, Dean listened. However, he kept going back to the part where Castiel admitted he wanted to stay with Dean. That meant more than anything in the world to him. The fact that the one person he wanted in his life no matter what wanted the same thing, made him feel warm and fuzzy inside. He didn't know what to do with himself or with the feeling. All he knew is he wanted to wrap the boy in his arms and squeeze him.

"Can I ask one more thing?" Dean finally voices when he felt like his insides were vibrating at a subatomic speed.

"Of course, Dean. You can ask me anything."

"Can I...can I hug you?" Dean'a voice started to give out on him half way through, but it seems Castiel still heard him. Instead of answering him, Cas just opened his arms and Dean all but jumped into them. He didn't realize how good this would feel, especially when Cas wrapped his arms around him and held him tight. Dean didn't ever want it to end so he just melted into the other boy.

"Can we stay like this for a while?" Cas whispered into Dean's hair. It kind of tickled a little, but he wasn't willing to move from his spot on Cas's chest. He hummed slightly and tightened his grip. He could feel Cas laughing slightly but ignored it and let it be as sleep began to take over.

"Night Cas," he mumbled.

Before he could let sleep take over, he could hear Cas whisper his goodnight and kiss his hair lightly. And for him, that was the best part of the night.

Again just want to apologize for such a long absence and again for a short post. Hope you all enjoy!!!
