Itachi grinned confidently as he held his long sword, "Love has made you weak. Look at me, I am heartless and merciless, that's why I always win!" He mocked me while he charged towards me with his sword. My immediate reaction was to block his sword against my dagger. Our blades met, clashing against one another. The moment was building up intensity.
Our strengths were equal, neither of us could push the blade closer to the other. So I quickly hopped backwards. With my sudden withdrawal, Itachi was surprised. I could see he was trying to read my next move as his eyes stared at me intently. I had to do something, something I would never do.
Then it struck me. I glared into his eyes, keeping the eye contact while I threw one of my precious daggers at him. Of course, he easily dodged it because of his fast reactions. But that was just a distraction. While he took seconds to dodge it, I came running at him. And I managed to slashed him with my other dagger and my body weight pushing him towards the concrete wall.
His back slammed against it violently as he coughed out. I pinned him against the wall, dagger against his throat. My other hand on his stronger hand that held the sword. "Love has made me stronger." I uttered, looking into his eyes. The ones familiar eyes I knew. I now couldn't even recognize the monster he became. "I win." I continued.
"Oh really?" He swiftly shifted his eyes. His wrist struggled to twist and turn, his sword was right behind my back. "I can cut your head off." I warned him, pressing my dagger even further down into his neck, causing them to bleed. He laughed, "And I can cut you into half."
I instantly popped his wrist upwards and the moment the sword was slightly higher, I rolled out of his grasp. But when I stood up, Itachi came slashing and dashing towards me. I could only dodged and swerved.
I could tell he really had the intention of killing me. I feared for my life. I knew I had the higher chances of losing because I was merciful. Maybe he's right, maybe love made me weak.
I had a firm grasp of his blade when it was about to cut me. I pulled him closer with the control of his blade and stabbed him once in the stomach with my dagger. When he bend down in pain, I then jabbed him another time in the back.
"I win. Give up now, or you'll die." I muttered, giving him a chance. He held the wound on his stomach as tumbled backwards to lean against the window.
"What happened to mother and father?" I asked him, seeing his blade dropped onto the ground. He had his hands full with putting pressure on his wounds.
"You're a smart kid, I bet you already know." He continued laughing, refusing to admit defeat. I dropped my dagger as well, running to him and punching him in the face. I held his collar, pulling it harshly towards me. "Tell me, did you kill them with Kakashi's drugs!?" I yelled at him, boiling with rage.
"No,no. They died of an overdose. I never killed them."
No wonder Kakashi helped me..
He was feeling guilty he supplied the murder weapon.
God dammit.
"Why did you kill them?!" I frowned, trying my best not to let my emotions get the best of me. But it's so hard when the killer is my brother. My brother I grew up with. My brother that taught me how to kill. "I told you, I didn't kill them. It was their own fault that they died of a drug overdose." Itachi continued his lies indifferently.
"Stop fucking with me!" I smashed his head through the glass window. His head began to bleed profusely, his eyes still glued to mine. "You have to learn how to trust your brother, Sasuke." He smiled weakly. "How can I trust you when you took everything away from me?!" I shouted, holding back the tears.
"What else could I do, Sasuke? They were getting in my way." Itachi coldly answered with blood streaming down his face. It.. It can't be. The reason was that simple? ...I knew what he meant by getting in his way, father and mother did everything they could to stop Itachi when they found out he was in a gang. He just simply found them a nuisance so he cut them out from his life. Itachi gained a lot of reputation when word spread that he killed his own parents. He must have been very proud of himself.. All these years I thought he had a deeper reason to kill them.. But no, he's just a sick bastard.. "Go to hell!" All these thoughts made my blood boil. I pushed his neck near a piece of broken glass still attached to the window frame.
"SASUKE, STOP!"
That voice..
I instantly turned back to see my precious prince awake and alive. I was relieved. "Naruto.. You're alright-" Itachi took the chance when my attention was diverted. He kicked me off him and I collided with Naruto. As soon as I looked back to the window, I saw him jumping out of it.
"Naruto.. You okay?" I asked him as I held him up, Naruto nodded. "Sorry I let him get away. You.. You just can't kill a man like that."
I ran to the window, looking down but there was no trace of Itachi at all. I sighed heavily. "Why not? Did you know he killed my parents? This is revenge." I explained to him, to prove my innocence, turning back to him from the shattered window. Naruto eyes watered as a smile plastered to his face when he approached me. "Even so, revenge can't bring your parents back to life. Neither can it bring you happiness."
I was astonished by his reply. He was too kind indeed. But I agree with him. I will get nothing out of revenge.
Not even happiness.
