Damian's pov
I left work pretty early, before noon. I didn't want to go in the first place but I had received a call about some papers to sign. Mia even pleaded with me to go but I refused. As far as I knew it, there was nothing that'll prevent me from spending quality time with my princess. Seeing as I made no move to go, Mia resulted to threats. Yeah she did. She had threatened to never speak to me again if I didn't go to work in the next ten seconds. What was I supposed to do after that? Of course I ran like a bat from hell to the office. Though it broke my heart to leave her on her own, I took comfort with the fact that she wasn't alone. She had her bodyguards with her. Mia hated all of them. She was completely terrified of them. But that didn't stop her from being a smart mouth. She calls them giant bozos behind their back. It's hilarious to see Mia trying to get them to hang out with her. When they just ignore her, she pouts adorably which is so funny to me.
Immediately my driver stopped the car, I took my briefcase and the packs of ice cream I had gotten and got out of the car. The bodyguards stationed at the door bowed in greeting but I ignored them. I wasn't in the mood for pleasantries. I just wanted to see my baby girl, Mia. I found her on the couch, her face frowned in concentration as she read a novel. I cleared my throat signalling my presence. Mia jumped which made the book fall from her lap. I dropped my briefcase and quickly picked up the book.
"Sorry" I muttered sheepishly. Mia smiled and motioned for me to seat beside her.
"Welcome. You are back quite early. Bring anything for me?" She asked with a smile. I chuckled at how childish she seemed and dropped the packs of ice cream on her lap. She looked inside the package and beamed at me when she saw chocolate ice cream. She squealed and threw her arms around me. I laughed and hugged her back.
"Thank you! Thank you! Thank you" she changed repeatedly while bouncing on her seat. She stood up and went to the kitchen. She came back holding two spoons. As she was about sitting down, she exhale loudly, as if just remembering something. It seems I was right because she said
"That reminds me, Damian, how can I get a waiver?"
I frowned and wondered what she'll need a waiver for. As if reading my mind, she added.
"No it's not for me. It's for someone else"
I wanted to ask who but I knew it was too soon. It's obviously important to her and it seems too personal. I thought about her question and gave her an answer.
"You need a lawyer to have a waiver written. After its written, both parties must sign it for it to be valid"
She nodded. She looked deep in thought.
"Can you help me get a lawyer to have it written? Pretty please. It's important to me" she asked timidly as if afraid of my response. My heart exploded with joy. This is the first thing Mia has asked of me. There's no way I'd refuse her requests. If she had asked for the moon, I'd still make sure she gets it. I placed my palm over her wriggling fingers and smiled.
"Of course sweetheart, I'll get you a lawyer"
She beamed at me and I laughed at how childish she looked.___________________________
Mia's pov
Damian made a phone call and the lawyer came to the villa. He introduced himself as Barrister Sullivan. Damian left us alone for privacy in his study. I was grateful for that. I wasn't ready to explain what happened between Aiden, Karen and I. I may act strong and unaffected but what they did to me hurt so much. It was a betrayal of trust and an insult to my intelligence.
"Miss Lee! Excuse me Miss Lee!" A voice broke me from my thoughts and I turned to see Sullivan trying to get my attention. It seems I was daydreaming again. I blushed and quickly mumbled an apology.
"Of course, no problem. Now shall we get to the matter at hand?" he replied, bringing out a laptop. He opened the laptop and waited for me to say something. When I didn't, he asked
"Ma'am can you explain the type of waiver you want and how you want it written?" His voice sounded polite.
The thought of telling someone about Aiden and Karen's betrayal was enough to send me into panic. I gulped and thought of an excuse.
"I want it to state that Aiden McCarthy agrees that whatever shares he will own in McCarthy corporation. I want it to state the future. Not now." I said, my voice confident and strong. I noticed Sullivan was uncomfortable and was sweating seriously. I scowled and asked
"What's wrong barrister?"
Sullivan clear his throat before taking a deep breath and replied
"I'm sorry Miss Lee, I'm the legal representative of McCarthy corporation. I can't grant your request" his voice was trembling, as if afraid of my reaction or probably just scared of me. I decided to use that to my advantage. I smiled sweetly at him and he looked shocked. Maybe he thought I'll blow up in anger.
"Is that so Sullivan? Then I should tell my brother Damian Carlos that you refused his princess request?" I blinked at him innocently. I noticed earlier on how scared people were of Damian and it seems I'm right because Sullivan hastily nodded.
"N-no n-n-need f-for that, miss Lee. I'll have the waiver ready for you by tomorrow morning"
Tomorrow morning? That's too long. I needed to get done with Aiden and Karen so I can start my life afresh. I shook my head at Sullivan
"No barrister. Tomorrow is too far. Have it done before two pm"
Sullivan gasped and tried to argue
"But ma'am, the judge - - - -"
I cut him off with a glare that'll put Hades to shame.
"Alright ma'am, I'll have it done before two pm" he said, his face resigned.
I smiled sweetly at him and replied.
"Thank you"
He just nodded and practically ran out of the house. I laughed at his retreating back. Who'd have thought little ole me will be able to scare off a barrister.Comment and click on the little star button below. Thanks
