Damian's pov
I whipped around at the sound of mum's voice. Shit! They were early. I haven't even had the chance to prepare Mia for their arrival. I turned to Mia to see her frozen in one spot. Heck I don't even think she's breathing. I stood up and quickly went out to study to block my parents from coming up. And to also give Mia time to adjust. Knowing the kind of parents that I have, they'll just overwhelm her. I climbed down the stairs to see Dad pacing the living room and Mum coming out of the kitchen with an enormous plate of cookies. Typical of mum. She always eats cookies when she's stressed. She looked up from her plate and sighted me. She abandoned the cookies and walked towards me. Her every step agitated. Dad broke from his pacing long enough to see me. He walked closely behind mum.
"Damian where is she?" mum asked, her voice quivering. I let out a breath I didn't know I was holding.
"Hello to you too" I smiled at her sarcastically. She looked pointedly at me, unamused.
"She's upstairs in the study mum" I rolled my eyes at her. Mum ignored my sarcasm. She took a step, about to pass by me, straight for the stairs. I grabbed her arm and pulled her back.
"Mum, dad, wait" I told them. Dad frowned at me. Mum's expression quickly changed from nervous to anger in the blink of an eye. Before she could explode at me, I continued.
"Listen to me for a minute. Mia doesn't know you are coming. I didn't tell her hoping when she sees you, she'll remember more of her childhood memory." I explained. Mum's expression was now understanding. She nodded at me. Dad exhaled loudly. He wiped his face with his hand. He turned to me and said
"Okay what do you suggest we do now?"
I thought about it for a minute before replying
"Let's go up to see her. But be very careful. She has had enough shock in the past few weeks. We don't want to frighten her" I looked pointedly at mum. She was the one to tended to over react. Mum scoffed at me
Mum and dad nodded, agreeing to the plan. Together, the three of us made our way up to stairs. I don't exactly understand what I was feeling. Fear? Nerves? I honestly don't know. I just want to get this done and over with. And hope Mia isn't too shaken up._________________________
Mia's pov
I froze immediately I heard the voice. It sounded so familiar. I know I've heard that voice before but where? I turned to ask Damian who she was but I didn't see him. I looked around to see I was alone in the study. That's odd. When did he leave? I stood up and was about leaving the study when I heard voices approaching. I froze when I heard another voice. A very familiar male voice. I leaned into the door to eavesdrop on their conversation. Their voices were too low for me to hear and it sounded as if they were getting closer. I ran back to the chair I was sitting. I picked a book from the table and acted as if I was reading.
The door opened and Damian and a couple stepped in. I looked at Damian and he looked really nervous. Hmm why is he suddenly nervous? I thought. I turned to study the couple and couldn't look away. They were staring right back at me. I searched through my mind trying to understand why they looked familiar. I also noticed the lady and I had a stunning resemblance. It's as if I was staring at an older version of myself. I turned to look at the man. Tears were gathered on his eyelids. His mouth drawn in a taut line. I couldn't ignore the feeling anymore so I asked
"Hello, have we met? You look awfully familiar"
At this the woman nurses into tears and leaned into the man who looked like he was really trying not to cry.
I stood up and took a step closer to them. My mind was wondering what I said wrong that could have caused this reaction. I looked at Damian helplessly. He cleared his throat, drawing the attention of the couple. The woman turned to him teary eyed.
"Remember what we talked about on our way here?" he said softly. The couple looked confused before understanding dawned in them. The woman quickly wiped her tears and pasted a shaky smile on her lips. The man also tried to smile but it looked more like a grimace.
"H-hello dear" The woman gave me a pained smile. I smiled back at her. I couldn't help it. My body was drawn to her, as if there was a magnetic pull between us. I looked into her eyes and gasped. An image from my dream floated into my mind. I gasped out and took a step back. She didn't look different. It was the exact same face. The only thing was that her hair had some strands of white in it. I couldn't believe I didn't recognize her immediately.
"M-m-mum" I stuttered out. The woman's eyes widened and she gaped at me. It was as if a switch was flipped on. Suddenly different images began assaulting my mind all at once. I couldn't stop it.
"Amelia do you want some ice cream?"
"Where is Damian?"
"Amelia you'll ruin your dress that way"
Immediately one image left, another started. It was too much. My hands flew to the sides of my head as if to block the images from clouding my mind. My head began to hurt. I began screaming. I saw Damian stare at me confused. He should be. I probably look like a mad woman doing some spiritual dance right now. My legs became too heavy and gave way. I sank slowly to my knees. My breathing uneven. I held my chest willing it not to fail me. Everything became blurry. The last thing I saw was the man diving to catch me. But it was too late. I hit the ground hard. I felt a sharp pain on the side of my head. I gave in and slid into unconsciousness.Comment and click on the little star button below. Thanks
