Felix's pov

I parked the car a few houses away from Helen's house as instructed by Davis. I killed the engine and came out of the car. Davis came out of the car and walked around to the trunk. I walked over to him. With a nod at me, he opened the door to reveal our weapons. I picked out two hand guns, four knives and a machine gun. I shoved the knives into my boots. I kept a hand gun in the waistband of my jeans. I wore thick gloves on both my hands and put on night vision goggles. I looked over to Davis and saw he was ready and waiting for him. I nodded to signal I'll was ready and together we took off jogging to the house.
Immediately we arrived, I could tell something was wrong. The lights were switched off and everywhere was in darkness. I turned to Davis to see him looking also confused.
"Something's up" Davis murmured to me. I nodded at him, completely agreeing with the statement. He signalled me to follow him and led us around to the back door. I brought out a pin to pick the locks. Few seconds later, I still didn't hear the click of the door being unlocked. I frowned and removed the pin from the keyhole. I studied it carefully and decided there was nothing wrong with it. Something occurred to me and I twisted the doorknob. The door opened and I frowned at Davis. He looked at me confused and I explained
"The door was already opened"
Immediately he heard that, he frowned and pulled me behind him.
"Get down and stay behind me" Davis whispered harshly to me. I rolled my eyes at his daddy-protective-mode gesture but obeyed.

Davis's pov

"Shit! Shit!" I cursed under my breath. Something was definitely wrong and it doesn't take a genius to figure that out. I knew I should have trusted my instincts and called off the mission. But I couldn't, knowing that Maria, Felix's mum and his sister is being held captive by my lunatic of a wife, Helen. And as much as I try to deny it, it's all my fault. If Helen wasn't bent on getting me, she wouldn't need Maria to threaten Felix with. I knew Felix wasn't comfortable with me being protective over him, but I can't stop myself. Helen may have taken Maria away from me, I'd be damned if I let her take Felix too. I crept quietly into the house. I looked around the empty living room. Everything looked exactly the same since the last time I was here. No matter how much I wanted to keep Felix away from the impending battle, I couldn't do this without him. I turned to him.
"Guard here, I'm going to check upstairs" I whispered to him. Felix nodded and I turned and quietly crept up the stairs. I searched everywhere. Every nook and cranny, nothing. I came back downstairs to see Felix with his gun up.
"Nothing here. Let's go" I told him. I turned to went out the way we came in. I was about going to where we parked the car, when Felix placed his arm on my shoulder effectively stopping me.
"What about the garage?" He asked me. I dismissed the thought immediately. It was mostly filled with Karen's car and Christmas decorations.
"No, there's nothing there. Just junk" I assured him.
"We should at least check it out. We can't be too sure" Felix insisted. I personally thought it's a waste of time but just to appease him, I led the way over to the garage. I dropped my gun on the floor and pulled up the garage door. It opened but we couldn't see anything because it was dark. I felt my way to the light switch and flicked it on. Light surrounded the whole place. I turned to go pick up my gun and saw Felix pointing his gun intently at something behind me. I picked up my gun and turned to see what has him fixated. My gun immediately went up at what I saw. Maria sat tied to a chair. Behind her stood Helen with a gun pointed at Maria's head.
"Well well well, you guys finally showed up. Davis I've been waiting for you. How was your trip to Australia?" Helen smiled smugly, her eyes lit with excitement. Maria began struggling against the ropes, her eyes calling to me. She was trying to say something but her voice was muffled by the gag around her mouth. I frowned at her willing her to shut up so I can think of a way out of this. But she didn't. When it became too frustrating, I decided to listen to what she was trying to say. Maria looked pointedly at me, then looked down at her chest. I followed her gaze and gasped when I saw what she has been trying to show me. Around her waist, there was a bomb with a timer on it. I turned to look at Felix. He was fixated at Helen and had not noticed the bomb yet. I gulped and turned back to Helen. I was tired, tired of everything.
"What do you want?" I asked her, my voice sounded exhausted.
"Good boy" Helen cooed at me. Felix snapped his gaze to me for a second before quickly returning his gaze to Helen.
"What! You are going to discuss with that bitch instead of blowing her head off like we agreed? I knew I couldn't trust you. You are a pussy to her" Felix snapped at me. I breath evenly trying to control my temper. It wouldn't do any good to loose it now. But I had to set him straight.
"If you'll shut up and stop acting like a child for a second. Take a look around your mum's waist" I snapped back at him. Felix frowned but quickly looked at Maria's waist. The gun in his hand wavered as he tried to keep the tears from dropping. It broke my heart to see tears on his face but I ignored him. I needed to focus on the issue at hand.
"Enough games Helen. What do you want?" I snapped at her. Helen laughed like a maniac and replied
"Oh Davis darling. You were nothing more than my ticket to the organization. But I enjoyed our fucks. Anyway here's what will happen. You are going to drop your weapons and move back slowly"
I looked at Felix and nodded, signalling him to obey. We have no other choice. We can't risk Maria's life. I dropped my guns on the ground alongside Felix's guns. I looked at Helen, waiting for her next instructions. Helen smiled and said
"Good. Now you both will move back slowly while I get the hell away from here. I'll set the timer to only forty seconds left so you'll have to work with that. You can come after me and leave maria here to blow up or you can focus on Maria while I make my escape. The choice is yours"
I looked at Maria, her eyes pleading for me to rescue her. I made my decision. I was about to move when a voice called out softly
"Dad? Mum? What's going on?" Karen asked as she strolled into the garage.
"Shit!" I cursed. As if things could get any worse.
