Damian's pov

I stood glaring at the police officers. So far since their arrival, they've done nothing. Absolutely nothing. Just stand there looking around like a bunch of fools. They just told me they can't do anything concerning Mia's case because it's not up to twenty four hours. Are you kidding me? Her bodyguard was knocked out unconscious and they don't think it means anything? What do they want before they act? Mia's death certificate? Not happening. I don't care if I wind up in jail, they are going to look for my sister and bring her home safe to me. And it's not going to take twelve years like the last fucking time. I turned to the detective in charge. I've forgotten his name.
"Listen to me detective, I don't care what you do, who you call, where you go. All I want is my sister back." I snapped at him. I was losing my patience fast with these idiots. They don't understand that I'm like a grenade waiting to explode. Mum collapsed immediately she was told the news. And as for dad, he busted into tears. He cried so hard that when the police tried to interview him, he was just a blubbering mess. The detective signed, probably frustrated at my constant whining.
"Like I said before, Mr Carlos. There's nothing we can do until it's up to twenty four hours" He repeated the same mantra he has been saying since he was called into the case. I was beginning to regret calling them. Maybe I should have just used my security team. I opened my mouth, about to curse him out when a familiar voice shouted my name.
"Damian!"
I turned around and saw Mia climbing out of the passenger seat of a car. I stood shocked. My mind racing. Could it be my imagination? Am I hallucinating? Mia was running towards me, a blonde haired girl following closely behind. I snapped out of my thoughts and opened my arms in time for her to jump into them. The sudden weight knocked me off my feet and I fell on my back. I hugged her tightly, not quite believing she's real. I let go of her and looked at her face. She was covered in dirt. Her clothes were disfigured with mud. She looked dirty but definitely alive. Mia stood up from me. The detective offered me his hand to stand. I ignored it and stood up on my own. I glared at him for a second before turning to Mia.
"Are you alright? Are you hurt?" I asked her, my voice anxious. She smiled at me and shook her head
"No I'm fine. Karen saved me. She got me out of there"
At the mention of her name, I turned to the blonde stranger. She was smiling, her head lowered. I took her hand and smiled at her
"Karen right?" I asked for confirmation. She nodded and I shook her hand, my gratitude profuse
"Thank you so much. Thank you. I don't know what I would have done if anything had happened to her"
Karen smiled at me, her gaze curious. Mia leaned towards her and whispered, not so quiet
"Part of the explanation I promised"
Karen seemed satisfied at this and nodded. I saw the detective gesture to me. I definitely do not want to talk to him. He was totally useless when Mia was listening. If not for a very gorgeous blonde, my sister will be history. Don't ask me why I referred to her as gorgeous, I'm not ready to answer that. I hated to leave her when I just found her but I had to deal with detective grumpy pants. I turned to mia who was watching me with a perplexed expression, probably wondering why I was frowning.
"Go on inside. Mum and dad are waiting for you. I need to go talk to this moron of a detective" I ordered her. Mia smiled at me and nodded. She pulled Karen, who was still staring at me and went into the house. I shoved my hands into my pocket and sighed. Time to get this over with.

Mia's pov

I pulled Karen by her arm into the house. Her eyes widened when she took in the interior. I rolled my eyes at her obvious reaction. I remember I was also gobsmacked the first time I entered into the villa. I heard mum and dad's voices coming from the study. I was eager to see and talk to them but I needed to do it alone. Which means I have to get Karen situated. I pulled Karen up the stairs, passing by excited maids who were happy to see me. What can I say? I'm well loved. I pulled Karen into my room and shut the door. I immediately began pulling my clothes, my mind set on a hot shower. I took off my top and was about pulling my pants when I noticed Karen standing awkwardly by the door. I rolled my eyes exasperated
"What are you doing Karen? Take a seat" I said to her. She walked to my bed and sat awkwardly at the end.
I huffed out when I noticed her posture. She looked very uncomfortable.
"Relax Karen." I smiled at her reassuringly. Karen gulped and rubbed her palm together.
"Erm Mia, whose house is this? It's really big" Karen commented while looking around the room. I snorted at her discomfort. I understood her reaction. I would have reacted the same way if I were in her shoes.
"Don't worry Karen. Trust me I'll explain everything soon" I assured her. I took off my pants and underwear in front of Karen. What? It's not as if she hasn't seen it before. I ran naked to the bathroom. I turned on the shower and adjusted the temperature to blazing hot. I breathed out in relief when the hot water hit my body. It felt so good. I took my time washing my body. I scrubbed as if I was washing off the awful memories. After I was done washing, I just stood there letting the hot water heat me. Minutes later, the water began to grow cold and I switched it off. I wrapped my body in a fluffy bathrobe and stepped out of the bathroom. Karen had fallen asleep on the bed, a drool on the side of her mouth. I smiled at how cute she looked. I'm sure you are wondering why I accepted Karen so easily. When the answer is simple. She saved my life. I quickly dried my body with a towel and walked into the closet for something to wear. I settled for bum shorts and spaghetti top. I walked out of the room and headed to the study to talk to mum and dad. I met Damian on the stairway.
"Have you seen mum and dad?" he asked me. I shook my head in reply and he continued.
"Okay quickly go and see them. When you are done, if you're up for it, the police wants to talk to you. You know, ask questions for their so called investigation." He said the last part using his hands to describe air quotes. I rolled my eyes and nodded. Damian smiled and ruffled my still wet hair before he continued his way up the stairs.

Aiden's pov

Shit! Shit! She got away. She left me again. And that bitch Karen helped her. I punched the rickety wall of the shack. The wall collapsed under my fist but I was too angry to care about that. How could she leave me again? When I've finally designed a beautiful plan that'll make her stay with me forever. I felt betrayed and hurt. My head was bleeding but I ignored it. Knowing Mia, she would I gone to the police. I have to get rid of any evidence, I thought while looking around the shack. And I need to do it fast. I ran to my car and entered it. I started the car and drove a few meters away from the shack. For what I was about to do, my car needed to be far from the shack. I parked the car and got out. I walked quickly to the truck and took out the spare container of fuel I always kept there for emergencies. I carried it into the shack. I unscrewed the cover and began to pour the contents around the shack. When it was empty, I threw it aside and walked out of the shack making sure to leave the door opened. I dipped my hand into my pocket and pulled out a lighter. I flipped it on and threw it into the opened door of the shack. The door caught fire instantly and few seconds later, it spread and the entire structure was on fire. I watched it burn till there was nothing left but ashes. Then I walked into my car and drove home to act like nothing happened.
