Aiden's pov
I nodded my head to the sound of the ear blasting rock playing in the speakers. What am I doing? I'm currently lying on my bed smoking pot with my room door locked. Why? 'Cause I have nothing better to do. Since my friends practically abandoned me, I don't have anyone to talk to. I tried making new friends. But none of them could meet my expectations like the way Cameron and Blake did. I miss those two douche bags so much but my pride won't let me call them and apologize. Besides they abandoned me first. So I'm sitting at home on a weekend night with no party to go to or friends to hang out with. I'd love to blame Mia for everything. But frankly speaking, it's not her fault. It's all Karen's fault. That bitch seduced me. And like the idiot I am, I fell for it. She destroyed everything I've worked for. My relationship with Mia, my friendship with the guys and my now celibate lifestyle. It's all Karen's fault. It's her fault that it took Mia breaking up with me to finally realize how much I love her. How much she means to me. Though I had great sex with Karen, I lost the love of my life. My plan to get her back failed for the first time, but it won't fail for the second time. Mia will be mine. She just doesn't know it yet. I smirked at the thought.
A knock sounded on the door interrupting my train of thoughts. I frowned at the disturbance but quickly got out of bed. I put out the fire on the blunt I was smoking in a make shift ash tray which was actually a saucer. I drew open the curtains and increased the speed of the ceiling fan. I picked up my most expensive and potent cologne. I sprayed it around the room, ensuring it's scent covered the smell of the blunt. Then I picked up the ash tray and ran to the toilet. I flushed its contents in the toilet bowl and rinsed off the ash tray. I brought it back to my bedroom and set it on the bed side table. I opened one of the drawers and took out a granola bar. I tore the wrap open and placed the granola bar on the saucer. Then I picked up the remote and turned down the volume of the music. I ran my fingers through my hair, trying to make it look messy.
I walked sluggishly to the door and unlocked it. I pulled it open to find my mum standing there. Her hand was raised about to knock again. She looked at me skeptically or perhaps suspicious. One can never tell with my mum. I began to feel uncomfortable with her stare so I yawned exaggeratedly trying to appear as if I just woke up. I guess she bought it because her suspicious look suddenly turned apologetic.
"It seems I woke you up. Sorry about that. There's someone here to see you"
She said with a small smile. I frowned at that. I wasn't expecting anybody. I don't think it's Blake and Cameron either. I haven't spoken to them in weeks. Who could it be? The clearing of a throat broke me away from my thoughts and I looked to see I was still standing at the door with my mum without giving her a reply. I smiled softly at her and pecked her cheeks.
"Alright mum. I'll be down in a few minutes" I told her. She smiled at me and nodded. She turned around and went back downstairs. I immediately shut the door to my room and leaned on it. Who could that be? It can't be Karen and I can bet my life it isn't Mia. Wait a minute, it could be about Mia. I wiped my hand down my face. I should have asked my mum if it was the police. I'm so stupid.
There's no reason to worry, I assured myself as I made my way down the stairs. I got rid of the evidence so they have no reason to arrest me. I had expected this to happen and prepared my cover story. Now all I've got to do is cool down my beating heart and appear calm. Sounds easy enough. I just hope if it's the police, it should at least be female. They're easy to fool. I got down the stairs to find a stocky man with oversized glasses seating on the couch writing something on a jotter. He looked up from whatever he was writing at the sound of my approach. He pocketed the jotter and pen and stood up.
"Aiden McCarthy?" He inquired. I frowned and nodded.
"I'm detective Steve from the police force and I'm here to follow up the case on Mia Carlos's kidnap. Will you happen to know anything about that?" He asked me straight forward. My frown intensified. The serious, smart type, I thought as I subtly studied him. He won't be easy to deceive, I concluded. I shook his outstretched hand and sat down few distance away from him. I forced my expression to appear confused.
"Mia's kidnap? What are you talking about?" I asked him, ensuring my voice was laced with confusion and curiosity. He huffed out and went ahead to explain.
"Miss Mia Carlos, who from our Intel is your ex girlfriend was kidnapped from school at exactly 1:15pm on the 5th of May. Several eye witness placed you at the scene." Shit! I knew I should have been subtle and more careful. But I was just so angry and frustrated at Mia and her bodyguard that I acted without caution. I feigned shock and gasped out.
"Mia was kidnapped? And why the hell did people place me at the crime scene? If I remember correctly, I was at the beach throughout that day" I replied vehemently. I was feeling far from confident but I couldn't let it show. It'll give me away. The detective frowned at me.
"Are you sure about that, Mr McCarthy?" He asked, his face was blank which made it hard to guess what he was thinking.
"Hell yes. I left school around 1pm and went to the beach. I stayed there till about 4pm before I returned home" I affirmed. The detective nodded and took out his cell phone. He pressed something on it and turned it around to face me.
"So will you say that you are not the one in this video?" the detective asked. I turned to look at the video that was playing on his phone and gasped. It was a video from the CCTV camera at the school. In the video I was seen putting Mia in the trunk of my car while she was screaming. The detective stood up and pulled me up with him. Before I knew what was happening, handcuffs had been slapped around my wrists.
"Aiden McCarthy, you are hereby arrested for the kidnap and assault with intent to murder of Amelia Carlos. You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law. You have the right to an attorney. If you cannot afford an attorney, one will be provided for you" He read my Miranda rights to me but I was barely listening. I couldn't hear anything except my heart beat. My mum ran out of the kitchen and was saying something to the detective. I saw her pick up her cell phone and began dialing a number. Probably my dad. I was escorted out and I realized several police cars lined my driveway. I was pushed into one with a officer climbing beside me. And off we drove to the station.______________________________
Unknown's pov
They know of me but they don't know my identity. They think they can outsmart me by being secretive. But they don't know how close I've been. I watch their every move ignoring the pain in my heart. They laugh at my pain and make mockery of me. But they don't know I'm just bidding my time. Time for me to strike. Time for me to crush them. But for now, I continue to watch from the sidelines. I don't want them dead. Death seems like a easy punishment for what they've done. But I'll watch them bleed. And I'll enjoy every moment of it. Every moment they suffer. And they last thing they'll breathe before they die will be my name. For I am vengeance and I will repay.
