Mia's pov

Here I was, looking awfully guilty, covered in ice cream that'll probably take hours wash from my hair, with a suddenly shy Karen behind me, laughing my eyes out. Even the snobby ass detective cracked a smile. It was hilarious. Damian rubbed his stomach  while he tried to control himself.
Few minutes later, we were all seated at the table in the kitchen. Detective cleared his throat before speaking
"Miss Mia - - -" he started. Damian cut him off with a glare. Detective gulped but kept quiet. I looked at Karen who looked back at me. I'm sure we were having the same thoughts. What's going on? And why did Damian glare at him?
"Mia the police wants you to give a statement. The statement will help identify and apprehend your kidnappers. That is if you are up for it. No ones forcing you" Damian explained softly to me. The detective grumbled under his breath about the last part. I thought about it for a minute. Telling the police my ordeal means Aiden will be arrested. And if he is arrested, he'll definitely stand trial and be found guilty since lots of people saw him take me. He'll definitely go to jail for a long time. Though he hurt me, do I really want him to go to jail? I asked myself. Wait a minute, why am I questioning myself? Aiden definitely didn't question himself when he kidnapped me? Or when he cheated on me, twice. I huffed out. I opened my mouth to say something but close it when Karen suddenly spoke up
"The kidnappers name is Aiden McCarthy. He kidnapped Mia and took her to an abandoned shack about a hundred miles away from the school. I was there. I saw the whole thing."
She was heaving by the time she finished talking. Her face was set in a frown and her hands curled into a fist. Oops I guess she's angry. I looked at Damian and noticed him staring at Karen in what looked like adoration. Oh something's cooking. As if feeling my gaze on him, Damian turned and met my eyes. I gave him a sly grin and a wink to let him know I saw him. He rolled his eyes and looked away. But I noticed the tint of pinks on his cheeks. Apparently big brother is embarrassed that little sister caught him staring at a girl. Hmm I have to do something about that. I'll study Karen for a while. If her attitude is truly changed, I'll practice my matchmaking skills on Damian and Karen. The detective cleared his throat, the sound broke me away from my thoughts. I fixed my gaze at him, my face set in a scowl. Why is he always clearing his throat? Is there a frog in there? I wondered. I noticed everyone staring at me and I blushed in embarrassment when I realized I said that out loud. The detective glared at me pointedly before turning to Karen. I glared back of course.
"And you are?" He asked, with that gruff voice. I'm sure he thinks he sounds manly, it'll be a shame when he realizes he sounds like a cat in heat. Now that I think about it, he does look like a cat.
"Karen lee" Karen answered, her voice strong. The detective took out a jotter and a pen. He wrote something on his jotter and said to me.
"Miss Carlos, can you please explain to me what happened this afternoon?"
I took a deep breath and narrated everything that happened. From the kidnap to my escape. When I was done, Damian could barely contain him. His hands were tightened into fists and he had a murderous expression on his face. I felt a bit of fear at that. No I wasn't scared for myself, I was scared for Aiden. With the way Damian looked, Aiden had better prayed to all his gods that Damian does not get his hands on him. I can't imagine what will happen but I know for sure it'll be brutal. The detective turned to Karen and asked
"Miss Lee, as stated by miss Carlos, you aided her escape. How did you know where she was?"
Karen looked at me for a second before turning back to the detective.
"I followed her" She stated. The detective looked unsatisfied with the answer. But he said again in a bored and professional tone.
"Please tell me your side of the story from the beginning"
Karen adjusted her position on the stool and started.
"I ditched class and was sitting under a tree beside the school cafeteria. I was going through some things in my head when I suddenly heard noises. I got up and went out to find out what's going on. I saw Aiden walking to his car with a screaming Mia on his shoulder. I hid and watched as he placed Mia in the trunk and drove off. I thought about calling the police but I realized someone must have already called them because Iwas hearing sirens from a distance. I quickly hopped into my car and following him. I followed him to the shack and parked my car hidden in the bushes. I got out and waited for Aiden to leave. When he did, I quickly went to the door and tried to open it. No matter how hard I tried, I couldn't get the door to open. Few minutes later, I heard aiden's car approaching and I quickly hid behind the shack. I don't know what else happened but the next thing I saw was Mia running out of the shack and Aiden not too far behind. I ran into the bush where my car was hidden and quickly drove out. I pulled up beside Mia and told her to get in. She dived through the passenger window and I immediately drove away."
By the time Karen finished narrating the story, Damian was looking at her with awe. Everywhere was quiet for a while with me watching Damian and Karen, Damian watching Karen and detective taking notes. Few minutes later, the detective stood up.
"Your stories corresponds. We'll issue an arrest warrant to Mr McCarthy immediately. Have a good day" The detective said and walked out. Immediately he left, I stood up and stretched out my sore muscles from sitting too long. Karen turned to me and asked in a whisper
"So are you going to tell me what's going on now?"
I rolled my eyes and sat back on the stool. Damian stood up and left, murmuring something about work.

Karen's pov

Mia sat on a stool beside me. She looked at me.
"I'll tell you everything but you have to promise you won't interrupt till I'm done" She said in a stern voice. I nodded immediately but she shook her head. I rolled my eyes, understanding what she was requesting for.
"Okay I promise" I said to her. Mia smiled at me. She cleared her throat.
"Damian is my brother" She stated. My mouth fell open in shock. I was bursting with curiosity before she spoke but now she has, I'm even more curious. I opened my mouth to say something but she held up her hand signalling me to stop.
"I know you are confused. Give me a minute to explain. It all started that day I caught you and Aiden together the first time" Mia started. I flinched when she referred to that awful memory. It wasn't something I was proud about. She ignored me and continued
"After I left you guys at Aiden's place, I went to the house to pack my things. On my way out, I saw Davis. He told me something about your mum and pulled me to a cab. He brought me to Damian's office. At first I was confused but when I studied Damian, I remembered something. I don't know what happened but I mentioned his name. It was as if it was engraved in my mind. I found out that Damian was my biological brother. I also met my biological parents. Since then, we've been together" Mia finished narrating her story. It sounded like something from a soap opera. I expected to feel jealousy but I didn't. Instead I was truly happy for her. I stood up and walked over to her. I pulled her into a hug and whispered into her ear.
"I'm truly happy for you. You deserve to be happy after everything you went through living with us" I told her as sincerely as I could. Now I have to deal with the ugly part. I have to tell Mia everything about Aiden and I.
"Mia, there's something I need to tell you" I told her softly.
