Wow... I can't believe it's been about 2 weeks since I last uploaded anything for this story. =/ I feel terrible about that, but... alas, I will not let it happen again. The end of this story is near, I'm afraid. I think I have maybe 4 or 5 chapters left (to be honest right now I can't remember; my outline is at home and I surely didn't memorize it). But I promise these last few are going to be the best out of all of them. =) Anyhow... enough of my rambling. Hope you enjoy chapter 29. =)

The soft sand sank beneath Adrianna's feet as she walked along the shore of Lake Superior with Tom. They had managed to break away from the rest of their friends. It had been the first time they had been able to really be alone together other than when they were sleeping since they had been up north. Honestly, it was about time that they were able to; Adrianna had yet been able to show Tom her favorite thing about being there. Tonight, she was going to do just that.

The girl led Tom by the hand to a log that rested about five feet away from the shore. The couple took a seat, Adrianna remaining careful not to sit on any of the particularly nasty bugs that sometimes inhabited the pieces of driftwood that scattering the beach. The girl rested her elbows on her knees, and her head in her hands as she stared out over the lake.

"So... what did you bring me here for?" Tom asked her curiously.

Adrianna didn't speak for a moment, debating on how she wanted to word her response. "Well... all my life, I've wanted to sit here by the lake with someone who meant the world to me and watch what I think is the most beautiful sunset in the entire world." She turned to look at Tom. "And before today, I've never been able to experience that. You're the first guy I've brought here. And honestly, I'm glad I saved this moment for you."

Tom pulled her closer to him, placing his arm around her waist. "You can't be serious right now, can you?"

"I'm dead serious Tom," Adrianna didn't hesitate, not knowing if he was joking with her or being serious. She stared up at him, awaiting his response.

"You never cease to amaze me with how adorable you really are," he smiled. "You mean to tell me no other guy on the planet was worthy enough to sit next to you and watch a sunset?"

Adrianna frowned slightly. "Well, considering none of them ever wanted to come up north with me to begin with, no. I guess not." She rested her head against his shoulder. "Sides, why would I have wanted to spend such a special occasion such as this with anyone but you?"

"No idea," Tom replied. The two sat in silence for a moment before he added. "I'm really glad you brought me here, Dree. This place is absolutely magical. And to be honest, I may have never had the opportunity to come here if it wasn't for you. But then again, there's a lot that I have to thank you for."

That struck Adrianna as odd. What on Earth did Tom have to thank her for? If anything, she had a lot to thank him for, definitely not the other way around. "What do you mean Tom?" she asked quietly.

"Well, Dree, I've got to admit, the past four months or so I've spent with you, I think I've grown a lot as a person, a lot of growing up," Tom admitted. "I used to be so... dead set on focusing on my career, I often forgot to relax and enjoy the little things in life. And once you came along, you helped me a lot with that I think. Plus you've helped me realize that not all women are crazy gold-digging fan girls." The two of them both laughed a bit after that line. When the laughter ceased, Tom went on. "And this vacation has only brought us closer, Dree. I'm hoping this is only the beginning for us."

"So do I, Tom," Adrianna breathed. "You know you helped me out a lot too. I don't think I would've handled the whole Matthias thing as well as I did without your help. I would probably still be a nervous wreck chasing fish around a tank for a living while I worked my way through school. So I thank you for making my life... immensely better than I could've ever hoped for."

Her smile was interrupted by Tom giving her a quick kiss before focusing his attention back across the lake, where the sky had already begun its amazing color transformation. The typical blue was being replaced by vivid reds, pinks, and oranges. If it was possible, Adrianna was sure she had managed to pick one of the most beautiful sunsets she had ever seen to share with the man of her dreams. Her luck was truly impeccable as of recent.

Her thoughts were interrupted when Tom spoke up again. "You know, Adrianna... I've been meaning to do this for a while, but due to how crazy everything has been recently, I just haven't had the time to do it," he said. This baffled Adrianna for a moment, but she wasn't confused for long. Tom pulled a small box from his jacket's pocket. He opened it before handing the box to Adrianna. "I know it's not much, but I think it's about time that I got you something as beautiful as you are."

Adrianna stared down into the box speechless for a few moments at the heart-shaped diamond necklace sitting cradled in the velvet interior. "It's... beautiful Tom. But you really didn't have to do this for me."

Tom gave her a look before answering, "Oh shut up, darling. You deserve it. Now let me help you put it on." Adrianna handed him the box gently. He took the necklace from the box, unclasping it in the process. After wrapping it around Adrianna's neck, he clasped it shut, pulling her hair out from underneath the chain in the process. "There. And it looks lovely on you, if I do say so myself."

Adrianna blushed. "Thanks Tom." She gave him a quick kiss on the cheek. "I love you."

"I love you too, darling," he replied, a huge smile on his face.

Both of them brought their attention back to the lake, focusing on the sun in the far western sky, beginning its slow descent behind Lake Superior. It truly was breath-taking, and Adrianna couldn't imagine another place she would rather be. She was sitting in one of the most stunning places on the planet with Tom Felton. As far as she was concerned, this was what paradise was made of. Everything was just so picture perfect. It was truly saddening that their week there was coming to an end; tomorrow they would be packing up and heading south to see Adrianna's aunt and grandmother. That would be another adventure, but Adrianna didn't want the current one to end yet.

The sun sank beneath the gentle waves of the lake, taking the last few bits of light with it. A frown appeared over Adrianna's face; she couldn't believe it was already over. She shook the feeling as she felt Tom kiss the top of her head.

"That was absolutely gorgeous, sweetheart," he shared. "Thanks so much for sharing it with me. We'll have to come back one day and watch a lot more than just one."

Adrianna smiled. "You're very welcome, Tom." She stood, stretching slightly, looking back towards the staircase, noticing someone started a bonfire. Adrianna was willing to bet that it was started by the rest of their friends. She pulled the boy to his feet. "Should we go see what kind of shenanigans these friends of ours are getting into? Maybe roast a marshmallow?" She winked at him.

Tom shook his head, a smile all too apparent on his face. "Why not? I'm sure they're probably already making theories as to why we're not back yet."

Walking hand in hand, the two headed towards the fire in the distance. Admittedly, Adrianna was a little disappointed that this trip was already at an end. But it had been a lot of fun, and on top of that, a real bonding experience for the whole group. Although the trip was over, she was sure there was a whole new adventure head of them...
