Hello my wonderful readers! Finally wrote in here. Decided I need to get a cycle going for what story gets uploaded when, and what not. Having 4 stories going at a time, you often focus more on one than the others, and I surely don't want that to happen with me again. So I'm not sure what the schedule will be, but when it gets figured out, I'll be sure to let you all know and stick with it. I think that this will be my second upload: I think Kiss Me, I'm Irish will come before it, and Chasing Dreams and Devil's Snare will come after it. Anyhow... enough of my babble. This chaper was supposed to be longer, but for the sake of making this story longer for you guys, and because I wanted to sleep last night, I shortened it. =) Enjoy! =)

Tom once again found himself standing in an unfamiliar living room for the second time in only a week. Somehow Adrianna had once again had managed to snag a side trip involving all of the group (except for Sam and Ed, who once again made previous arrangements), only this time it was to Grand Rapids, Michigan. She had been dying to introduce Tom to her grandmother, and admittedly, Tom was more nervous about that than he was when he was meeting her parents. He willed himself to calm down, holding onto Adrianna's hand tightly. Adrianna led him over to the loveseat by the huge window looking out into the wooded backyard, waiting ever so patiently for her grandmother to emerge from the kitchen.

All of her friends had taken seats around the living room, leaving the spot on the far side of the largest couch open for the elderly woman who had just entered the room. "Well, well. Look who finally came back home to see their grandmother," she said, taking the remaining empty spot. "It only took you what? Seven or eight months in England before you came home?"

Tom side-glanced at Adrianna, silently wondering what she was going to counter that statement with. He took a deep breath, mentally preparing himself for what he was going to eventually be interrogated about. He knew someone was going to start rattling off questions, he just didn't know when.

"Well, grandma, I kinda got busy with working," Adrianna said, matter-of-factly. "The girls and I quite like London so far. We'll probably be staying a lot longer than we originally intended." Tom felt her squeeze his hand tightly. "After all, if I hadn't gone to London, I would've never met Tom."

Tom suddenly felt Adrianna's grandmother's icy blue eyes fall on him. "So you must be the guy who's been trying to steal my grandbaby away."

Tom at first was unsure of what he was supposed to say to that. "Well, ma'am I suppose when you put it that way, I guess I sort of am."

"Grandma, this is Tom, my boyfriend," Adrianna introduced. "And obviously you already know Valarie and Marisa. The guys next to them are Rupert and Matt, their men of choice." She winked, something Tom had only seen her do a few times in his life.

"Well, it's nice to finally meet all of you," her grandmother answered. "And don't worry, Tom; it's not me who will be doing the interrogation. That's reserved for Dree's Uncle Joe."

Tom remembered Adrianna bringing up an Uncle Joe. He was an engineer of some sorts, though Tom couldn't remember the specifics of it at the time. Adrianna had debriefed him on all the details about this little branch of the family on the way over. Her aunt, Karen, was her mother's oldest sister and was a nurse at one of the hospitals in the area. Also living at home were Adrianna's younger cousins, Kayla and Matthew- their older brother, Andrew, had been away at college for about a year now. At least, Tom thought he had the details straight.

"When will they be home?" Adrianna asked. "They promised me a boat ride!"

"Should be any minute now," her grandmother answered. "Church has been over for a while now."

Tom didn't even have time to react to that remark as he watched a blue minivan pull into the driveway, parking next to their car. Her family had to be home, and he knew that he was only moments away from her uncle tearing him to pieces. Tom pushed his hair out of his eyes with his free hand, still forcing himself to breathe deeply. Just think of it like an interview, Tom, he thought. There's nothing he's going to throw at you that you haven't dealt with before.

The front door opened, letting the family of four enter the building, most of which were shocked to see the scarcity of seats in their living room. "I wasn't expecting you all to be here so early," the tall, curly-haired woman spoke up. "Your mother told me you would be here this afternoon."

Adrianna smiled. "Well maybe we just couldn't wait to get here, Aunt Karen." Before she said anything else, she went through the introductions for everyone once again. "So now that that's out of the way, when can we go on the boat?"

The balding man started to remove his tie, draping it on the door knob. "Alright Eager McBeaver. Relax. I have something I need to get out of the way before anyone goes on my boat." He walked over to the dining area, an elevated addition to the living room he had built himself, taking a seat at the dining room table. He turned to face Tom. "So... you're Dree's boyfriend, Tom?"

            Tom nodded. "Yes sir."

The man who Tom had deduced was her Uncle Joe, smirked slightly. "Well, first of all, let me welcome you into the family. And now that that is out of the way, let me begin my questioning." He cleared his throat. "So, what do you do for a living, Tom?"

"I'm an actor," Tom answered confidently.

"What movies have you been in?"

"All of the Harry Potter movies, Rise of the Planet of the Apes, Anna and the King," Tom answered. "I have a new movie coming out at the end of next month too."

Joe nodded, as if he was in deep thought. "And your hobbies?"

"Fishing, playing golf and several other sports, playing guitar," Tom started to list but he was interrupted by her uncle.

"Golf?" he asked. When Tom nodded, Joe continued. "Well, so far so good. But you haven't passed the test yet... are you going to school?"

Tom was afraid of that. Unlike Adrianna, he had been focusing more on his career than on his education. It wasn't that he hadn't thought about it to have something to fall back on, it was just something he didn't have time for at the moment with his busy schedule. "At the moment, no sir. I've been focusing on my acting career for some time now, and but I've been thinking more and more about going to have a back-up plan. If I do it will probably be in fishery management."

His answer was followed by more nodding. "I suppose that's better than nothing. So how long have you been with my niece?"

"Just over four months now," Tom replied. "Your niece means the world to me, believe me when I say I would never hurt her like the guys from her past." Tom pulled her close to him. "Sides, she is far too perfect for me to let someone else have her."

"Alright, alright," Joe sighed. "I suppose you're good enough to date my niece. But you break her heart, I break your face."

"So now that that's over, can we please go on the boat now?" Adrianna pleaded. "I want to get in the water while it's still warm."

Tom couldn't help but laugh as Joe rolled his eyes. "Well, I certainly don't see any of you ready..."

With that, Adrianna bounded off the couch, her bag in hand. "Let's go change! C'mon!"

Tom shook his head, following his girlfriend down the hallway. She really could be something else some days. He was wondering how this tubing trip was going to go. If it had been anything like the trip to Grand Marais vacation, Tom was sure that this was going to be chaotic.
