Part 49- Let's Get Ugly

My POV-

Today, me and Nathan are going to book a date for the wedding, finally. We were going to take the kids but Tom offered to look after them, whilst we were out. As I was getting Oscar ready, I noticed that there was something different about him, I mean, he has been acting strangely,
'Are you alright Oscar?' I asked him, but he just nodded his head, I wasn't convinced, I'll just have to keep an eye on him. I finished getting the kids ready and we got into the car and dropped the kids at Tom and Claire's.

Claire's POV-

I was really looking forward to looking after the kids again, I enjoy having them round. I love to watch Tom playing with them, he absoultely adores them, which is lovely to see. Seeing him like that with the kids makes me wonder what he would be like if we ever had our own children which I hope one day we will.

Max's POV-

Me and Sophie have been drifting apart, I don't know why but we just don't seem to be as close as we used to be. I wanna treat her to something to make her feel special but i'm not too sure what to do, but I am sure I will think of something.

Sophie's POV-

I was out shopping with Jade, she was looking at baby clothes, we were having a great time. I then felt my phone vibrate in my pocket, I reached into my pocket and got my phone out, I had recieved a text message from Max, I opened up the text,it said,
'Make sure that you are home at 7pm, I have a surprise for you :) M xxxx'. A surprise...what kind of surprise, I thought to myself.
'Okie Dokie :D xxxx' I replied back to Max.

Later that afternoon...

Nathan's POV-

I had just treated Ams to lunch before we went to go and set a date for the wedding. The church that we were going to was just a ten minute walk from the cafe that we had lunch in. I was so glad that we were booking a date for the wedding at last, I cannot wait to marry Amy. We got to the church and found the vicar waiting for us, he greeted us and we followed him into a little room, and sat down at a desk.
'So, when are you planning on getting married?' the vicar asked.
'Around winter time,' Amy replied with a smile.
'Oo, that is a busy time, but I shall check for you,' the vicar answered.
'Thank you,' I said.
'The 10th December is free, How does that sound to you?' he questioned with a smile on his face.
'That sounds perfect to me,' I responded, I noticed that Amy had a massive grin on her face.
'Great. 10th December it is then. I shall see you a couple of days before for the rehearsal,' the vicar said as he got up from his seat.
'Thank you,' Amy smiled before we left the church. I was so happy that we had finally booked a date.

My POV-

10th December, I will be becoming Mrs Sykes, at last. We got outside of the church and my phone began to ring, I took it out of my bag and saw Tom's name flashing up on the screen, I answered it,
'Hey Tom,' I said.
'Ams, get to the hospital, something has happened, but I shall explain what when you get here.' Tom replied.
'What? What's wrong?' I asked.
'Just get to the hospital,' Tom siad before hangin up on me. What did he mean?

'What's wrong gorgeous?' Nathan asked in a concerned way.
'We have to go to the hospital,' I informed him.
'Why babe?' he questioned.
'I don't know, Tom won't tell me,' I began to cry.
'Aye, don't cry babe, let's get to the hospital and find out whats going on, OK.' Nathan reaasured me. We got to the car and headed to the hospital.

Tom's POV-

I was in the garden with Ollie and Oscar playing football, when Oscar fell to the ground, I rushed to his side and checked if he was still breathing, which thankfully he was but it was very faint. I instructed Claire to ring an ambulance, 20 minutes later the ambulance arrived. I got into the back of the ambulance with Oscar and Claire followed with Lucy and Ollie. We got to the hospital and I contacted Amy, and I told her that her and Nathan should get to the hospital as soon as possible. I hope Oscar is going to be alright.

My POV-

Me and Nathan rushed through the hospital doors and went to where Tom directed us to go, we finally got to Tom,
'What on earth is going on?' I asked Tom.
'It's Oscar,' Tom began to explain.
'Wh-a-t's wrong with him?' I stuttered.
'I don't know, he just collapsed in the garden,' Tom informed us. I then let the tears in my eyes fall down my cheeks, I couldn't believe what I was hearing. I then felt Nathan pulling me into him, what was wrong with my baby?

'Excuse me,' A lady said to us,
'Yes,' Nathan said.
'Are you Oscar's parents?' she questioned.
'Yes , we are,' Nathan replied.
'I'm Dr Hannah Reynolds, can I speak to you in private?' Hannah asked.
'Of course,' Nathan responded, I didn't the sound of that. We followed her into a room so it was just us three in there.
'Do you know what is wrong with our son?' Nathan questioned.
'We are just running some tests first but I think I know what the problem is.' she answered.
'What's that then?' I asked.
'Do you or any of your family members have diabetes?' she questioned, Nathan shook his head.
'My Dad had it, I think my side of my family have it in our genes,' I explained.
'Do you think Oscar has diabetes?' Nathan asked.
'That is what I am thinking is wrong with him, have you noticed anything different about him recently?' she responded.
'He has been paler than usual but I didn't think it was anything serious. I was going to keep an eye on him in the next few days,' I answered her.

'What type is it? and is there a chance that Ollie could get it?' Nathan asked.
'It's type 1 and not necessarily, we will keep Oscar in for a few days, and we shall give you all the help that you need. It will be tricky to cope with at first but when you get the hang of things, it will become easier,' Hannah said.
'Thank you, can we see him now?' Nathan asked.
'Of course you can,' she smiled.

Nathan's POV-

So, Oscar is diabetic, I've never had any experience with diabetes so I don't really have a clue about what to do but Amy's Dad apparently so she should know something about it. Hannah showed us to where Oscar was staying, he was awake but had wires coming out of him, and machines beside him that kept beeping. It was horrible seeing this happening to our little boy, Amy went and sat beside him, Ams had remained pretty strong, stronger than I thought she would be. I sat on the other side to Oscar, he was very quiet but I'm just happy that he is okay.

Later that night...

Sophie's POV-

I got home from my day out with Jade to find a candle lit dinner on the table and Max dressed quite smartly, he looked so hot...hotter than usual.
'What made you want to do this?' I questioned him with a smile on my face.
'Can't I treat my girl every now and again?' he replied with a wink.
'I suppose so,' I laughed as I walked towards him.
'Sit down,' he instructed me, I did what he asked me to do. We sat down and we ate the food, it was lovely, we finished the food and Max started acting strangely.
'Are you alright?' I asked him.
'Yeah, why wouldn't I be,' Max answered nervously.
'You seem like you're up to something,' I replied as I took as sip of my drink, Max then placed his hand on top of mine and just looked at me, he was definitely up to something.
'I've been thinking,' Max began to say.
'Oh dear...' I replied sarcastically.
'Ay, you cheeky biatch,' Max answered as he whacked me playfully on the arm.
'Ha, what were you thinking about?' I laughed.
'Us, and about how much I love you and how much I want to spend the rest of my life with you,' Max continued, this made me smile. 

He then moved his hand from mine and reached into his trouser pocket a small red box to the table, Max then took a deep breath,
'Sophie, would you do me the honour of becoming my wife?' Max asked as he opened the box, inside the box was a silver diamond ring, it was beautiful. I felt a tear fill my eyes, I smiled and said,
'I would love to be your wife,' Max took the ring out of the red box and placed it on my finger, I couldn't believe that Max had just asked me to marry him, Max then kissed me passionately on the lips.

Max's POV-

I can't believe she said yes, I am so happy.

My POV-

Oscar was fast asleep in the hospital, I can't believe that he is diabetic, it was quite a shock, I was never expecting this to happen. Tom came and sat beside me,
'Do you want me and Claire to take Luce and Ollie home with us? They can stay as long as you want them to, OK?' Tom suggested.
'If it's not too much trouble,' I replied.
'Of course it's not babe, I would do anything for you and the kids,' Tom smiled.
'Thank you Tom,' I answered.
'No need to thank me Ams, I'm your brother, it's my job to look after you,' he responded as he kissed me softly on my head. I then pulled Tom in for a hug, I just wanted my brother to hold me, which is what he done, I really did love Tom, he means the world to me.
'Me and Claire will take the kids now, just ring us if you need anything OK?' Tom said as he got up from the chair.

Nath then walked in with Lucy and Ollie, the kids came over to me and gave me a hug,
'Now, you two better be good for Uncle Tom, OK?' I said to them.
'Is Oscar going to be okay?' Lucy questioned me.
'Yes sweetheart, he will be home soon, don't worry,' I said as I kissed her goodbye, they then walked out of the room, leaving just me and Nathan alone with Oscar. Nathan sat down where Tom was previously sat, and he pulled me into him so I could rest my head on his shoulder, he then kissed me on the head,
'We will sort this out and Oscar will be fine,' he whispered quietly. I then moved my head so I was looking at him, I then kissed him on the lips.

Things can only get better.
