Crowley woke up in the middle of the night to muffled whimpering it was quiet but he knew who the noise was coming from so every noise hurt like a sharp pinch he swung his legs over the side of the bed his pink fluffy bunny slippers at his feet, he hated those but Aziraphale loved them so he wore them, he shuffled across the hallway and knocked on Aziraphale's door "Angel hello can I come in" he kept his voice low, no answer "damn" he snarled as he pushed on the door as it swung open he froze, his angel was laying there crying and squirming in his sleep what could he do? he's a demon not a therapist, he thought "Angel" he whispered still stood in the doorway "Angel" he shouted Aziraphale sat bolt upright in seconds "oh um uh crowley what time is it?" he choked out "2:30 am angel you were having a nightmare, you want to talk?"
"Sorry Crow- ouch ah um my dear,"he corrected himself and continued "I didn't mean to wake you I'm okay, I'm fine really you should go back to bed we both should"
"Okay then gnight" crowley gave him an unconvinced look and went back to bed he lay in bed thinking evil, demonic things which he loved, and they sent him right back to sleep.
The next morning:
Aziraphale was in the kitchen, crowley knew it he smelled coffee the smell filled his tired senses and he rose from the bed. "Angel you okay?"
Crowley called down the hallway tiredly "yes good morning my dear"he cheerily stated. Crowley plodded out of the room and into the kitchen where he met Aziraphale who was busying himself with a first edition copy of Alice in wonderland, Crowley sat down at the tabled next to him and spoke tiredly
"Angel we need to talk about this this chip I guess"his words were carefully chosen so he didn't frighten the chipper little angel The angel sighed softly, "yes I know, should we start" he stated his tone of voice switched to serious and almost stern as he tapped the book in front of him his not leaving it, his eyes glanced down at swirling patterns in the wood flooring beneath them praying he didn't have to look up.
Crowley saw this and gently removed the book from his angels hands and placed it on the table, The angel knew he wasn't going to get out of this now. "Aziraphale I have to do something he hurt you I know you don't want me too but please I can't just forgive and forget like some people can" his voice was pleading it was on the verge of begging. Aziraphale nodded still not looking up from the wood floor he felt his chin being lifted up so he was looking straight at him "uh good morning"he joked trying to lighten the mood a bit although his efforts where in vain "Im going to say this once, and only once so listen please" he warned. "you can go and TALK to him but please no further Crow-ouch he whispered hoping to not be heard by Crowley, who's sensitive hearing picked the noise right up " see they are hurting you, he's hurting you and I can't have that angel."
"I'm sorry but no crowl- ouch" he said through gritted teeth just talk please" "ughh he hurt you angel and your still begging me not to hurt him.." He paused for thought and huffed out "fine just don't look at me like that with your puppy dog eyes please." Aziraphale smirked then his voice became almost sad
"Thank you, but what am I going to do with this now"he turned his arm to reveal his wrist and once again Crowley winced as he saw the chip "I don't know we don't actually know what its even called yet, would you have any books in here" he glanced around the bookshop "Aziraphale then mentioned his private collection of angel books (he had a few on angel technology) which he then remembered were in his safe " um I can't remeber the code to my safe though 4 numbers I need where did I right that do- he was interrupted by a confident voice "6000" "he smiled "yes it is how did you know that, have we been spying Crowl-ouch? " The demon shook his head and gave his reasons eagerly "no how very dare you" he faked his hurt "that's how long you have known me angel" Aziraphale blushed and then they nodded at eachother a smirk on Crowley's lips- that angel he thought to himself. "right then I guess we should brew some more coffee and get reading." Crowley was tempted to groan, he despised reading but he knew this time it was necessary, so he just nodded his agreement, a fake smile plastered his face.
After several hours and many cups of coffee Crowley groaned all this angel babble was making his head hurt all about being nice and kind and helpful, "Gross" he whispered none too quietly falling asleep, his head against the desk, which the angel ignored then Aziraphale gasped and tapped him on the shoulder to which Crowley shot up and just groaned a familiar word "coffee" the angel chuckled softly then he remembered what he just read and he began rushing through his sentences, they didn't make much sense "ANGEL"crowley shouted, catching Aziraphale off guard" um yes my dear?"
"Slow down Satan give me strength" he said which earned him a playful scowl from Aziraphale before he tried again "the chip can't be taken out by anyone but the angel that put it in"he said slowly, the reality started to kick in and Crowley nodded for him to continue "and the angel who implanted it can add as many trigger words as they want"he gulped nervously and they sat in silence for a second before he heard his name being called he looked at Crowley for help "Crowle ouch hide" he said as firmly as he could. "What angel no I'm a demon I'm not going to hi- he was interrupted by a finger on his lips, silencing him "please" he begged and crowley could see the fear in the angel's eyes so he walked around and hid behind some boxes of unpacked books. The voice spoke again it was cocky and very smug sounding "Aziraphale come on out Its time for us to do a shock count" the angels that had just appeared next to him laughed, Aziraphale swallowed his fear before shouting back "I'm here........ Gabriel"
