Aziraphale was different the past few days, his mannerisms, his emotions he was just different. Crowley of course noticed theses changes and I'd be lying if I said they didn't worry him. After 3 days of his angel and now husband moping about he decided enough was enough.
"Angel can you come here please"Crowley said a small hint of worry tugged at his cool facade. On the outside he was calm and collected, nothing phased him, on the inside he was scared and worried but he couldn't let Aziraphale see that side of him.
Aziraphale grumbled as he dried his hands with the plaid towel next to him and placed it back on the counter. "Yes dear, one moment."
His words sounded forced and the smile on his face definitely was, he wasn't angry contrary to how he sounded. As Aziraphale waddled into the bright living room, the light caught his face and Crowley internally shouted at how tired his angel looked. "Angel sit down please" he said as casually as he could, the angel knew how this went he wasn't stupid and so he sat, but as he did he felt so lonely across the table so he pulled his chair next to crowleys and looked at the floor. "Angel hey look at me." The demon encouraged lightly as his hand found its way into Aziraphales, "what's wrong angel?, you have been acting strange for days." The demon knew his angel and Aziraphale had been like a different angel all together lately.
Aziraphale looked up and as his gaze met crowleys the demon realized the joyful spark in the angels eyes was gone, replaced, by a swirling grey mist of tiredness. "Waiting day" the angel muttered and began fidgeting. Crowley's face was puzzled, confusion evident on it by the creases in his forehead, how was he supposed to know what that was? He didn't know -but he was damned if he wasn't finding out.
"Angel I don't follow, sorry"he said sheepishly he felt awful he didn't know about his husbands problem.
"Its okay, you demons don't get them I wouldn't expect you to."Crowley gulped and then nodded as a signal for the angel to explain more, which the angel continued when he saw. "Waiting days are basically the days up until an angels powers are renewed -all angels have them- these last few days weren't my waiting days, though today is the first."
"I'm sorry angel" crowley still felt bad for not knowing, which Aziraphale sensed and assured him it was okay before continuing smiling tiredly, "today isn't the worst mind day 2 tomorrow I'm very likely to pass out,
get dizzy spells, a fever or anything along those lines. Waiting days are bad I usually don't call you on them, 5 years ago to be exact you called me on a waiting day and I lied and said I was in work". It felt good to the angel to admit this or it would if he didn't feel so bad already thanks to day 1 of his waiting day. "Angel I didn't know, why didn't you tell me? I could have helped you." There was a slight hint of hurt in the demons voice to which Aziraphale just shrugged and apologized quietly.Crowley just decided to leave the subject for now and comfort his angel who currently for lack of a better word looked like crap. "Angel come here", the angel only yawned and nodded as he was led to the old leather sofa where Crowley sat first, he had zoned out until he felt himself being pulled down and onto his husbands lap. The shop was silent as the pair had said everything that needed to be..... Or so they thought.
Aziraphale gasped and Crowley instantly snapped out of his daydream and looked down in panick at his angel, "oh sorry I didn't mean to startle you I just remembered we invited Anaphema and Newt over for dinner tomorrow." The angel was clearly stressed "you, never do that again please I thought something was wrong!" He playfully scolded to which the angel giggled at the demons protectivness. Deep down Crowleys pride was hurt for looking so soft and caring but he couldn't hold back his grin at hearing his angel laugh again for the first time in days.
"We are canceling" he stated plainly, he didn't expect the angel to not air his opinions and he was right ths angel began to protest, as he looked down at the mess of blonde curls on his lap. "Oh no we are not PLEASEEE crowley" he begged "I have waited for this for weeks if I start feeling bad we can ask them to leave" the angel continued to beg until a sly grin crossed his lips. He knew what to do he turned his head and looked up at crowley and gave him "those eyes" as he called them, they eyes he knew his husband could never refuse.
