Overrun by Fear
Taken down by Doubt
Kept in chains by No Trust
Held in a prison of Caution

Suffocated by Love
Got burned by Care
Smothered in the ashes of
"You're a child still."

Criticized by Peers
Compared by Authority
Made to be Future
Came out as "Failure"

Molded like the Maker
Prepared for the World
Getting fed Orders
Trained to be a Doll

Sitting 'round the Table
Told to look up
But getting looked down
Like a Giant to a Dwarf

"Be yourself," they told us so
And when that's what we do
Shame us and ridicule us
Forced into hiding

We made mistakes
"I told you so," is what we hear
Never even heard
"Its okay, you're growing up still."

Decisions can't be made
To be told by The Boss
Directions on how to "live"
Is what they "teach" us

Do this, do that
No "wanna do this or that?"
Strive for this and that
No "what do you want?"

The goal is success
Not happiness
Acquire Wealth and Fame
Not contentment

Is this now the motto?
What everyone's gone to?
Where is Compassion?
Will we ever find Him?

Straying from the Path
That's built for us
Try to find my Self
By independence

Is it so wrong to be different?
Is it so bad to cast out traditions?
Will we ever be Free?
Can I ever be Me?
