(Y/N) didn't really know how to feel when she woke up in a cold sweat near the middle of the night. She hadn't had a nightmare since she was a child, and the only way she really knew how to deal with them was to go to her parents, she was at a loss of actions. Ever since she had gotten her new apartment, the only person she lived with now was her boyfriend, Stuart or 2D as he was more well known. (Y/N) wasn't really sure how 2D would react to her walking into his room at two in the morning, complaining about a nightmare she had, and asking to...share a bed. The girl rubbed her temples at that thought, a small blush spreading across her cheeks. They had been dating for about five months now, and they had still yet to sleep in the same bed. She believed when they had moved in together, things would be different, but 2D insisted they get separate rooms, and she didn't know why.
Swinging her legs over the side of the bed, (Y/N) thought about the possibilities: did he not like sharing a bed, or did he just not want to share a bed with her? Was he scared something was going to happen? They had had sex before, on the couch or in the kitchen, so that couldn't be it. Sighing, she stood and smoothed out her nightshirt, an old Gorillaz t-shirt that Russel had given her when she first joined the crew, so it fell pretty far down her legs. Then she steeled herself and made the short walk to 2D's room. The apartment was eerily quiet that night, cars could still be heard outside, but inside it was as if time had frozen. Memories of her nightmare began creeping back to the forefront of her mind, and her pace quickened as she wanted to get out of the dark and into the arms of the one she loved. She didn't even knock as she quickly opened his door and slipped inside. Casting her gaze onto his bed, she saw the peaceful, sleeping form of her boyfriend with his long legs and arms spread out on the mattress starfish style. The sight caused (Y/N) to giggle softly and managed to calm her nerves as she slowly approached the bed, careful not to wake him yet. As gently as she could, she sat on the edge of the bed, one leg tucked under her, and gently poked 2D's cheek.
"Baby.." she whispered, leaning closer to his ear. "Babe wake up, please." She cupped his cheek and let herself admire his serene face, in his sleep all the stress she usually saw seemed to disappear. His only answer to her prodding was a soft snore and his hand moving to scratch his stomach, so she kept at it for a bit. When he didn't stir, she sighed and looked around the room, it was much brighter in his as there was a streetlamp just outside his window, and she could see the mess he lived in. Not much had changed since they moved in together; he still wrote for the band of course, (Y/N) would never dream of splitting up Gorillaz, and he still didn't know how to properly clean up after himself. Her eyes drifted back over to him and she placed her hand over his, intertwining their fingers as she watched his chest move up and down with each breath. She really didn't want to break his peace, and she did think about leaving, but her nightmare taunted her as tears pricked her eyes.
"Stuart..." she pleaded softly, still no response, yet his hand on hers seemed to tighten. This encouraged her to smile again. The room was so cold, and he looked so warm under his blanket, so inviting. And he was her boyfriend, who's to say she can't just slip into his bed whenever she wanted, especially if she felt...scared. It was just for one night, and maybe he wouldn't mind. After looking at the door once more, she made up her mind. She didn't want to leave, so she slipped under the covers with him. If he wanted to be a heavy sleeper, she might as well just climb in. At that moment, she didn't care for the consequences, if there even were any, she just liked holding him close to her as the nightmares faded away. And maybe it was her sleep-deprived mind, but she could've soon he wrapped his arms around her in return as she drifted into a peaceful slumber.
