Its Been Awhile

Aphmau's POV

Tonight I am going to the mall with my friends, as a "Girl's Night
Out" thing with Lucinda, Katelyn, Kawaii~Chan, and Luka. I haven't
gone out since the crash. I mainly spent my days wondering if I'd ever
see Aaron again and making instant coffee.
As I get ready, I think about the last time I did something for my
own enjoyment. I went to the cafe to get coffee only to realize they
didn't have the limited edition pumpkin spice latte I wanted. I
instantly came home in a fit of rage and haven't done anything since.
That was after I was released from the hospital four days after the
crash for my concussion and broken foot.
I finish getting ready and wait outside for Katelyn to come pick me
up because she doesn't trust me driving. I breathe in the cool, ccrisp
air of late winter as Katelyn pulls up in her red SUV.
"Heyyy, long time no see!" She smiles and rolls down the window. I
smile back and get in the passenger side. "So, what have you been up
to? I haven't seen you in more than a month since the crash." She
pulls out of the driveway and heads in the direction of the mall.
"Kawaii~Chan, Luka, and Lucinda are going to meet us there by the
way."
"Ok sounds good, well I've been recovering in the safety of my own
home because you know that I got a concussion and smashed my foot, and
in the past two weeks I have been pretty much living in the hospital
with Aaron, I bringing baked goods to cheer him up. He's really been
under-the-weather lately, His parents pretty much abandoned him. He's
on his own, I guess." I sigh. His parents are horrible.
"Wow, ouch. Have you done anything for yourself? I mean, really, I
haven't heard anything from you besides that you got screwed up in
that crash." The look Katelyn gave me looked genuinely concerned.
I sigh, I was afraid she'd ask that. "No, I went to get coffee after
I got out of the hospital and they didn't have what I wanted so I
left. Haven't done anything since." She looks at me like I was from a
different planet. "I made instant coffee at home, I haven't gone a
month without coffee. God, Katelyn you're turning into Luka, sheesh."
"Thank God, you scared me for a sec. I really thought you haven't had
coffee for that long." She turns onto a street I don't recognize.
"Uhh, Katelyn? The mall is that way." I point to the street we just
turned off of.
"Oh, we aren't going to the mall yet. Luka, Kawaii~Chan, and Lucinda
can wait a moment for us. We'll get there, but first, we are getting
you some real coffee." That's when I see the sign for the cafe. "It's
a detour, that's why you've probably never been on this street."

"I needed that." I get back into the car with my coffee, and we make
our way to the mall when I remember the last time I had coffee with
Aaron.

Aaron and I sat outside the cafe with our coffees in the bright morning light.
"Aphmau?" Aaron looks at me.
"Yes?"
"You know I love you, right?"
"Yes, I love you too." I smile at him and he smiles back. He pulls me
into a hug and we stay there for a very long time, until it starts
pouring rain.
We laugh and run home, Aaron carrying me all the way.
He puts me down when we reach my house and I spill my coffee all over
my white shirt. "Oh crap! There goes my coffee." Aaron laughs at this
and kisses me.
"It's ok, you can have mine." He holds out his coffee to me.
"Oh no, I don't need it, thank you though."
He doesn't withdraw his coffee from me. "I insist." I finally give in
and take the coffee with a smile.
"Thank you."

We get to the mall shortly and meet up with the girls shortly after
we arrive in the food court, after a heated argument between Katelyn
and Luka on the phone about where on earth were they. "Well I think
you should come to us we just got here!... No, I don't care that you
found a cool store to go into! Don't walk through that door without
us!... C'mon, we are supposed to do this together!... THANK you! We're
in the food court! Bye!"
"So, I found this store, and it has the best stuff in it! If we don't
go Kawaii~Chan said she would go herself and we all know how THAT
would end up." As Lucinda finishes, Kawaii~Chan throws her hands in
the air.
"Hey! What is that supposed to mean? Kawaii~Chan is offended!" She
looks wide-eyed at Lucinda, and Lucinda shrugs. "Well, let's go then."
Kawaii~Chan leads the way to the store.

I end up coming home with tons of new items, from clothes to candles
to super expensive coffee that I can't afford but bought anyway. I
sigh and fall onto my bed and stare at the ceiling. I'm going to text
Aaron to see if he's still awake.
