I stand there waiting, waiting for my fiancé to come down the aisle, to become my wife. I could feel the suspenders press against my shoulders. As I ignore the tightness and look up again I see people starting to stand up and then she comes down the aisle. Her hair was up and her dress made her features pop out. I feel my eyes fill with tears. Then I see she has tears in her eyes too. Once she walked down far enough, I walked to her but before I took her I put my hand to shake for Eric, but instead Eric hugged me. Then I take Aphmau's hand and walk a little more to the Priest and face her. She gives Katelyn her bouquet and we hold both of each other's hands.
He starts, "We are gathered here today to celebrate one of life's greatest moments, and to cherish the words which shall unite Aaron Lycan and Aphmau Phoenix in marriage." He pauses for a moment, "Marriage is the promise between two people who love each other, and who trust in that love, who honor each other as individuals, and who chose to spend the rest of their lives together. This ceremony will not create a relationship that does not already exist between you. It is a symbol of the promises you will make to each other to continue to growing stronger as individuals and as partners. No matter what challenges you face, you now face them together, and no matter how much you succeed, you now succeed together. The love between you joins you now as one. Thank you all for being here for this special day." He flips his page in his binder. He then touch Aph and my hands, "These are the hands of your best friend, young and strong and full of love, that holds yours on your wedding day. These are the hands that will work alongside yours as you build your future together. These are the hands that will passionately love you and care for you throughout the years. These are the hands that will hold you when fear or grief torments your mind and with the slightest touch, will comfort you like no other. These are the hands that will give you strength when you struggle, and support and encouragement to chase down your dreams. Theses are the hands that will tenderly hold your children, and help keep your family together as one. These are the hands that will, countless times, wipe the tears from yours eyes, tears of sorrow, and tears of joy. And lastly, these are the hands that even when wrinkled with age, will still be reaching for yours, still giving you the same unspoken tenderness with just a touch—- a touch from these hands." He looks at me then at Aph, then continues, "Now I believe the bride and groom have a few words." He looks at Aph.
Which then Aph pulls a piece of paper out of her bouquet. She lets go of my hand and unfolds the paper, and grips it with both of her hands, "Remember when we first met in highschool? You totally photobombed my freshman picture. I seriously hated you for that. I thought I hated you, but here we are now. When you went off to college, I knew I loved you then, but I didn't want to tell you because I didn't know if you felt the same way I did.
After we finished college, I realized we haven't kept in touch. When you got a hold of me, I was never so happy. And when you asked me to be your girlfriend, it was one of the happiest days of my life. But nothing compares to this day." Tears stream down her face as she continues. "And now, after all we've been through, we still managed to get through it all."
She folds the paper backup and looks at me. "To be honest, when I wrote that I was expecting it to be a huge long speech that took forever. But I have no words. I love you, I always have, and I always will." She finishes and more tears run down her face.
My eyes filled with tears. Before I cry more than I should, I pull my piece of paper out of my pants pocket, "Aphmau, you've been my best friend for years and I always imagined marrying you. There has always been something special about you. You've made me a better person and I love you. But I can't describe my love. But when we took that break." My eyes water with more tears, "I felt lost. Alone. I felt like I had messed up and I knew I loved you even then even if you found someone better. I was always going to be your best friend. I promise to take care of you like you have been doing for the past year. I promise to love you everyday even if we're having a fight or disagreement. And I promise to love you forever."
The pastor looks at his binder, "Love isn't always perfect. It isn't a fairytale or a storybook. And it doesn't always come easy. Love is overcoming obstacles, facing challenges, fighting to be together, holding on and never letting go. It is a short word, easy to spell, define, and impossible to live without. Love is work, but most of all, love is realising that every hour, every minute, and every second was worth it because you did it together." He puts his binder down and then got the rings and handed Aphmaus to me and mine to Aphmau, "Aphmau do you, with this ring, take Aaron Lycan to be your husband, to have and to hold from this day forward for better or for worse, for richer or for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish until death do you part?"
"I do!" She smiles as she puts my ring on my left ring finger.
"Aaron do you, with this ring, take Aphmau Phoenix to be your wife, to have and to hold from this day forward for better or for worse, for richer or for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish until death do you part?"
"I do" I place her ring on her left ring finger.
"I now pronounce you Mr and Mrs Lycan. You may kiss the bride." I smile and pull her face toward mine and our lips meet. Everyone was cheering. I pull away and we walk down the aisle our hands intertwined. We walk to an area where we would like pictures taken.
I smile and kiss Aphmau on the cheek, "I love you so much."
"I love you so much too," She smiled, "come on," she walks to a tree and smiles.
"Where are we going?"
"Well I want to get some pictures of just me and you. You know?"
I smile, "that is a great idea," I grabbed her by her waist and touched my forehead to hers. We just do our thing,"You know you look amazing, I mean I was crying back there." I laugh.
"Well you were really handsome back there too, but yet again your always been handsome." She smiles.
"You have always been gorgeous to me and that will never change." I smirk and before she could say anything I kiss her. I smile in the kiss as well as she does too. We do a few more positions then we walked back are hands intertwined again.
"Let the party begin." She smiles and leads me to the party.(Pinterest was where I got the quotes for the priest shhh)
