Name: Elowen Ilana
Age: 17
District: 7
Sex: Female
Physical Appearance: Elowen is not particular about her appearance, but most would argue that she is not the sort of person who would need to be. Vanity is not held in high regard in District Seven. After all, hair is continually ruined by the sawdust in the air. Elowen finds that it tangles her brunette hair easily. It already has a curl to it, and the wind around her stiffens them into place. It looks effortless, but would crunch and break if you ran a hand through it. Bracing winds act as well as any pigment, creating a constant flush that's subtle on Elowen's darker skin. An active lifestyle keep her skin clear, and her eyes are grey. Her height is an advantage - it is easier to climb one hundred metres when by height alone you are 1.69% of the way there. Climbing also has an impact on her frame, resulting in Elowen becoming an interesting mix of both slender and powerful. Vanity is a sign of laziness that is frowned upon in District Seven and so Elowen does not indulge in it, but there are no social limits against the luck of good genetics. If you take the time to look closer, you'd find that - perhaps - her eyes are positioned slightly too close together to create desired symmetry, or that there is a scar on her cheek from a nasty incident involving some twigs. Elowen never finds the opportunity to take that time.Personality: Elowen is gentle, and will speak to others with the same sweet, almost patronising tone that she would use for a baby bird. She does not believe in senseless harm unless it is deserved, in which case she believes it is no longer senseless. She is never blunt, but her honesty is hand-picked to create ideal situations for herself. More often than not, her words come with an element of risk if you choose to believe them. The world is too slow for her own inner-workings, and her habit of talking too fast is a reflection of her own impatience. Elowen always has to be busy, and often finds herself fiddling with whatever is around her if she is left unstimulated. She can be over-emotional and quick to temper, but she has slowly learnt to bite her lip and act accordingly to the expectations of her elders. She distracts herself through work, reaching towards the aim of bettering herself with a very determined attitude. Despite the District-wide hatred of so-called Capitolistic traits, Elowen would consider herself to be materialistic. Her grandma would always liken her to a crow, scrambling to collect whatever glistened in the sun. Elowen's room is a collection of hoarded treasures.
Background: Elowen is old enough to remember the change, even if she was not old enough to grasp the political complexities. She belongs to a family who wanted to rebel and take part in the fight against the Capitol but the challenges of raising two small children - Elowen, and her younger brother Aspen - created a limit that the family was careful to follow. Elowen's grandmother was a strong force in District Seven's rebel force, manning an outpost alongside her husband on the edge of the forest under the District's control. From here, they took supplies from any District who could access them - mainly District Six and Thirteen, who both had access to airborne vehicles - and watched for Capitol airships attempting to take District Seven from their only exit. Elowen was born in the shallows of a brook. Her mother was alone whilst the remainder of the small group fought against a storm which seemed too perfect to not be somehow engineered by the Capitol. Elowen's grandfather was lost to a muttation which roamed the rivers, some incomprehensible cross between an alligator and electric eel. Her parents decided to bend to the Capitol for the safety of Elowen and Aspen. Her grandmother, however, refuses to believe that the rebellion is over. She constantly tells Elowen stories of how District Thirteen were cowards, how they pulled their support because they were too scared of victory, and how she does not believe the Capitol truly obliterated them. Elowen idolises her grandmother and her fighting attitude - Willow continually speaks badly about the Capitol and the Hunger Games, but when the Peace-Keepers come to find her, there is no one who suspects the old woman sleeping in the rocking chair by the fire.
Reaped or Volunteered: Reaped. Her grandmother believes it might have been engineered as a direct punishment to the family. Everyone else considers it to simply be bad luck.
Weapon of Choice: Elowen doesn't have experience with a weapon. Her grandmother would fight with an axe, and it still sits in her drawer. Elowen used to ask to look at it all the time, and asked for stories of how it would be used. When considering weapons, Elowen sees this as her best choice.
Token: When Willow came to say goodbye to her granddaughter, she bought the handle of her axe. Elowen had protested over the fact she had broken it, but Willow argued that weapons were not allowed and sometimes, destruction was necessary for a later fight. The handle is wood, with scrapes and scars from previous use. The initials "E" and "T" are etched into it roughly. No trace of the blade remains. There is no aspect of it which could be used as a weapon, short of basic blunt force.
