How more apt to end than results being late?

There is a shift in the Capitol as the victor of the 10th Annual Hunger Games is announced. After the rip-roaring success of the newly-dubbed 'Career' pack, there is a desire for more: more publicity, more show, more glamour, more death. They—the Gamemakers—have done all that they've needed to do, they've succeeded and survived. They—the tributes—have done all that they've needed to do, they've failed and died. Except for one. Across Panem, people watch as a new dawn begins to settle in.
But first, we must remember the fallen...

In fourth place.........District 3, Packard Bevin [canaria_]
Starting off in the middle of the pack, Packard's development and fledgling friendship with Benedict Quill propelled her to the end with consistently good and thoughtful entries. Though she might not have made it home, rest assured that District Three won't forget for a while Packard, whose realization that love and emotion are key to a human life caused an uproar in Three with the tragic end of her life at the very end.

In third place.........District4, Nerida Cresswell [-arielle-]
A strong contender from the start, Nerida took the veins of the newly formed Career pack and steered them and herself into a world so unfamiliar to the one in Four. Along the way, she loved and was loved, won and failed, killed and was killed. In her final moments, perhaps all that could be said in Four was that many years in the future, there will be a story told in Four, of a girl who was lost at sea until an unknown girl pulled her from the depths in sacrifice of her own life. And Nerida, in the end, like the rest, are but stories to be told again.

In second place.........District 4, Benthic Derval [lostwithmyfriends]
With phenomenal entries, Benthic was a strong competitor from the start, though along the way he, like the battered rocks in Four, had ups and downs. However, with strong recoveries, he managed to sweep his way into Finals, even though it meant having to leave his allies behind. Unfortunately, Fate was not on his side, and he is like his mother imagined him to be: drowned, but a memory, another story whispered on the winds that break the waters.

Which means, folks, only one thing...
The winner of the 10th Annual Hunger Games, the winner of the Fifth Annual Writer Games is none other than..
District 8, Tucker Steppe [Enchantresses]
With consistently high scores, an impressive dose of realism and heartbreak, and an excellent sense of character, Tucker stepped into the role of the Games and stepped out with himself intact. The early alliance of him and Ares, though short lived, Aunt Twyla, the return home, all things have come together to truly show that Tucker Steppe is Victor. He showed the Capitol that there is more to winning than strength and numbers. And with the author new (I believe?) to my Games, it is such a pleasure to be able to crown them victorious.
And that's all folks. Thank you again for all your support, commitment, and time! It's been a pleasure. Until a possible next time.
