Finals: The Fall of Man

"Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?

2 And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden:

3 But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.

4 And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:

5 For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil."  Genesis 3

"It is the end."

"Yes, indeed it is."

"They've come far."

"As have we."

"The spotlight awaits you first, go on then."

"Honestly, I'm not sure I'm ready."

"Neither were our tributes."

District 2 Female, Eloise Edith Kovach [ShayTree],

District 9 Male, Blair Setaria [starches].

"Well, yes. I just don't know..."

"President Snow believes the thing the Games need are public faces from behind the scenes. Personable figures, like you and I."

"Well, our track records haven't been so great lately. I don't think having a new Head Gamemaker every time they send one of us off will be a good look for consistency and stability."

"Oh, Helena, I'm sure there will be many more Games to come."

"How many?"

"Until the end."

"The end?"

"Until the people realize that a game can be cheated."

"Death can't."

"No, I suppose not. I'm sure we'll make it to a hundred. If not that, seventy-five. Once this generation is gone, things will settle out."

"But we won't be here to see it."

"No, we won't."

"Darius, will we even see another year? Has this all been in vain?"

"Not in vain, but in ego, perhaps."

"Ego, perhaps."

Well, congratulations on making it to the finals. I'm very sad to have had to part with our last competitors, but the show must go on and march ever quicker to the end. There was a tie and it was broken by highest cumulative score without ballots.

The finals task, as is oft in my Games, as in, always, is to be free reign.

THE TASK

Conclude your stories. Only requirement is to incorporate some aspect of 'The Fall', take it however you wish. There are many interpretations of fall and the fall and you can do whatever you want because I'm not judging you at all. Write the end. Write the end of the Games or twenty years later or whatever or whenever or everything. This is your final show, your conclusion. Reminder this is the 10th Games. Make of it what you will. The Victory tour has happened since the Games started ten years ago, if that's something you're interested in.

WORD LIMIT

Can you imagine if I'd be so cruel?

DEATHS

Kill whoever, whenever, BUT YOU MUST NOT KILL YOUR TRIBUTE IN THE ARENA. They must survive and be victor. No funny business, that comes in forty years, and then in sixty five. You are free to do whatever to characters so long as your tribute is victor of the 10th Hunger Games.

DUE DATE

Wednesday September 18, 2019, at 7pm Atlantic Time. Note the time. I have a busy Tuesday and my mom is arriving late Wednesday and I'm gone Thursday so PLEASE SEND IN THEN.

And for the second last time, may the odds be ever in your favour.
