***A few days later***
'We have gone through great heights to not put you in prison, Sasuke,' Kakashi sensei said. 'But it's better if you leave the village.'
Sasuke nodded. Even with all my pleading to Lady Tsunade, the best she could do was not put him in prison. The other villages still bore a grudge against him. And I couldn't just march in there and force them to change their minds.
Actually, with my new Tenseigan, I could.
But I bet Naruto would stop me, or Sasuke himself would. He seemed to think he deserved this, and I wholeheartedly disagreed with that.
'I'll give you some time,' Kakashi sensei said, gesturing to both of us. We nodded. He poofed away.
Sasuke turned to me.
'I'll miss you,' he said softly. I shook my head.
'No, you won't,' I said, smiling. 'Because I'll be right there.'
He sighed like he was expecting this.
'No, you won't be, Hana,' he said, 'this is my journey to atone for my sins. I have to do this alone.'
I glared at him.
'You're not the only one who has sinned,' I reminded him. 'I was there with you almost all the time.'
'Please, Hana,' he pleaded. 'Don't make this harder than it already is.'
'Oh, so you're admitting it's hard to leave me?'
'Of course, it's hard to leave you!'
'Then don't.'
He gave me an intense stare.
'Goodbye, Hana,' he whispered, kissing me.
Then he was gone.
I sighed in frustration.
'Damn him,' I said, stomping my foot. 'He got me.'
But what he didn't know was that I would follow him, wherever he would go. I would find him. And I knew he felt the same way.
'NARUTO!' I yelled.
'Yeah?' he said, coming over.
'Come on,' I said, 'where would Sasuke be?'
'He promised me not to tell you...' Naruto muttered.
'Okay,' I said, turning my Sharingan on. I looked into his mind.
'Hey, Kurama!' I greeted the Nine-Tails. He grunted in response. I then delved deeper and found what I was looking for.
'He's going to the Land of the Waves?' I asked in confusion. Naruto sighed.
'I knew you were going to get it out of me...'
I hugged him and poofed.
****
I could see him standing in front of me, staring at the ocean.
'I thought I told you not to follow me,' he said. I didn't say anything, just walked up and stood next to him and stared at the ocean too.
'I know you wanted me to,' I said, finally, 'or you wouldn't have told Naruto.'
I could feel him smirking.
'Yeah,' he admitted. Now it was my turn to smirk.
'So,' I said, 'this is what we're going to do for the rest of our lives?'
He turned to face me.
'If that's what you want,' he said. I smiled and nodded.
'But only until the village needs us again. Then we hurry back.'
He smiled, one of his rare, full smiles.
'Of course,' he said. He then hugged me tightly. And at that moment, things couldn't have been any more perfect.
Well, life had been hard, but I hadn't run away from it, and I had got a happy ending. And I was glad things had turned out to be the way they were. I wouldn't have wanted anything to be any different.
