Jane Andrews was your best friend, the two of you were truly kindred spirits. Any free moment was spent with each other, and most of the time was spent at your house. As much as you loved being friends with Jane and how you longed to go to her home, you knew you could barely stand to breathe the same air as Billy Andrews. You hated Billy more than you thought anyone could hate a person. Billy himself, didn't hate you one bit. In fact, he was quite head over heels for you, but of course you had no idea.

Today was Friday which meant that you and Jane would be able to  make plans for the weekend. You and Jane met in your usual spot by the front of the school house to walk home.

"Y/n as you know today is Friday and I was wondering if you would be interested in having a sleepover with me?" She said hopefully.

Now, this was not the first time you two had a sleepover but you knew what the next question was.

"And I was wondering, if we could please have it at my house? You always host and I feel so guilty, please just this one time." She begged.

"Oh why not." You replied, finally mustering up the courage to go to her house.

She squealed with excitement and you swore you heard her say something under her breath. It was along the lines of "Billy will be just as happy as I am." but you disregard the thought and began to squeal with her.

It was finally the day of the sleepover and you weren't as nervous as you thought. You slipped on your yellow dress and grabbed your small bag. Saying goodbye to your parents, you began the short walk to the Andrews' household. Along the way you saw one of your greatest friends, Gilbert Blythe.

"Hello Gil!" You exclaimed.

"Y/n! Where are you off to?" He asked, his walking pace meeting yours.

"Jane's house, I am staying the night." You replied, giddily.

"Mind if I walk you there, I was heading that way anyway." He offered.

"I wouldn't mind the company." You answered.

The two of you talked about whatever you wanted to, you always felt safe with Gilbert. You wondered why you couldn't feel this way with Billy. The whole time you walked with Gilbert, a small piece of you wished it was Billy. When you arrived at the Andrews' house, you placed a soft knock on the door. It almost immediately opened and you were met with the face of Billy Andrews.

"Y/n." He said, giving you a smile.

"Blythe? What are you doing here?" Billy asked in disgust.

"I met y/n along the path and I thought I would join her on her walk." Gilbert explained.

"Well you better not have tried anything Blythe." Billy said through gritted teeth.

"Billy, stop." You said.

Completely ignoring you, he opened his mouth to say something before Gilbert interrupted.

"And what would you do if I had tried something?" Gilbert inquired.

Before any words were spoken, the two boys broke out into a fist fight. You tried to stop them. Once the first drop of blood was seen, you ran to find but were told she was out, but would be back soon. When you returned you saw Gilbert's nose was dripping with blood, as was Billy's nose and lip.

"Oh Billy Andrews you hateful boy. Why do you always have to be so mean?" You screamed.

He looked at you sadly.

"Gilbert, you should go." You said, he nodded in reply and went on his way.

"Let's get you cleaned up." You said, taking Billy's arm.

He seemed shocked, but followed you to the kitchen. He sat down at the table and you took a bowl from the cabinet and filled it with warm water. A towel from the bathroom and began to dab the water and alcohol mix on his lip in attempt to stop the bleeding. He winced the moment the towel touched any part of his face. He screamed in pain.

"If you didn't move, it wouldn't hurt as much." You said.

"If you hadn't been with Gilbert, this would not have happened." He countered.

Now you were really angry.

"If you hadn't fought Gilbert and if you were nice to me, we wouldn't be here." You screamed.

"You shouldn't have been walking with Gilbert." He yelled back.

"You should learn to control your jealousy." You screamed for the final time.

The room went completely quiet.

"How did you know I was jealous?" He asked shyly.

"I'm not sure, but why do you get so jealous Billy?" You asked, sitting down next to him on the chair beside him, moving it closer towards his nervous figure.

"It's only because I like you." He muttered, just loud enough for you to hear it.

"Then why do you tease me all the time?" You asked, lowering the tone of your voice.

"Because I want you to pay attention to me." He confessed.

"Well that wasn't exactly the best way to get my attention, Billy." You joked.

"I know and I'm sorry." He said, taking my hand and softly kissing it.

"Thank you, I accept your apology good sir." You said, letting out a soft giggle.

"Well that's good, because I want to be with you." He said, leaning in to kiss you.

It was soft and gentle, but you thought these were qualities that Billy lacked. You were a little shocked, but went with it.

"Promise me one thing?" You asked after the kiss ended.

"Anything." He said.

"Don't be so jealous all the time." You said giggling.

"No promises, especially if that Blythe tries to steal my girl again." He joked
