Jerry was confused when he heard the Cuthberts were deciding to take in a new child. He thought as if he might be replaced and therefore lose his job. This worried him and he worked harder than ever so that he may be able to keep his job. One day as he was working in the barn, he heard Marilla wish Mathew a safe goodbye on his journey. Jerry assumed he was going to pick up the new boy.
His assumption was correct, but little did he know that Matthew would be bringing a girl home. Marilla called him inside for some scones while Matthew was gone, she always baked when she was nervous. While all of this was going on, you were waiting patiently at the train station. When the matron of the orphanage said that she was sending you off to be picked up by a family, you were overwhelmed.
You watched as a carriage approached the train station, you stood up in hopes. The man working at the station walked outside.
"I'm Matthew Cuthbert, here to pick up the boy from Nova Scotia." The man in the carriage said.
"There was no boy, just this girl." The worker said.
Matthew nodded.
"Hop on in then." He said to you.
The whole ride back to Green Gables was quiet, as you admired the beautiful scenery. As you approached the farm you reveled in its beauty. Walking towards the door, you saw the figure of a woman.
"Hello, you must be Ms. Cuthbert." You said, placing your hand out for to shake.
"Matthew, who is this?" She asked, ignoring you.
"This is y/n. She is going to stay with us for a while." He pleaded.
"Alright then, come on in." She said.
As you walked in, you looked at your surroundings. You walked into the kitchen and saw a boy about your age and a woman who seemed to be Marilla's age.
"Y/n, this is Jerry our farmhand and this is my friend Mrs. Lynde." Marilla stated.
"Lovely to meet you." You said to them.
"She's awful homely, Marilla. That hair, what an awful color. Not very pretty at all." Mrs. Lynde confessed.
After a few moments of silence and a few tears from your face, Jerry spoke up.
"I think she's beautiful."
