A/N: Thank you so much for 1k!! I hope you guys like the book, please let me know what you would like more of in the comments.
Being one of the Andrews children was pretty intense. Your parents had such high hopes and expectations for their children. Your sister Prissy was such a good example of womanhood (in your mother's opinion). Your brother Billy was very protective over his siblings, especially his twin, y/n. When school began, he made sure to let everyone know that you were off-limits. Everyone knew to stay away from you and this was something you did not like.
Billy was just as protective over Jane and Prissy. The three of you began to grow annoyed at his over-protectiveness. It became too much to bear when Gilbert Blythe asked if he could walk you home. You were approached by Gilbert at lunch.
"Hi y/n." He said, nervously.
"Hello, Gilbert." You replied with a smile.
"I was wondering if I might speak to you alone for a moment." He asked, stretching his hand out for you to take. You obliged, placing your hand in his. He guided you away from your friends to a small bench in front of the schoolhouse.
"I wanted to tell you that I like you quite a bit." He started, boldly.
You admired his confidence.
"I must say Gilbert, I feel the same way." You admitted.
"Really?" He asked, craving the confirmation.
"Yes, I have for quite some time." You exclaimed.
"I was wondering if I might walk you home today." He asked.
"I would like that." You replied.
He nodded and you both walked into the schoolhouse to proceed with the rest of the lessons. Mr. Phillips droned on and on all day, but you were full of excitement and anticipation all day. When he finally dismissed the class, you arose from your seat and grabbed your jacket. When you put your hat on and took your basket you saw Gilbert waiting for you.
"Are you ready?" He asked.
You gave him a smile and a nod. The two of you walked home in peace with the small conversation here and there. You felt his hand brush against yours and you decided to be bold, taking his hand. He smiled but continued walking. As you approached your house, he walked you to the door.
"Thank you, Gilbert. This was lovely." You said.
"Anytime, n/n." He replied.
You blushed at the nickname, giving him a kiss on the cheek. Before you could open the door, Billy came storming out.
"Blythe, I thought I told you y/n was off-limits." He cried, shoving you inside and slamming the door.
On his walk back home, Gilbert whispered to himself:
"She's not off-limits to me anymore, Andrews."
He chuckled as he headed back home.
