A/N: Someone requested this plot with different characters but a lot of people wanted it with Billy, so here it is!
It was no secret that Billy Andrews was a "tough guy" and his girlfriend, could also be tough if she needed to. The thing that Billy loved the most about her was how adventurous she was, she was never afraid to chase after her dreams or do something spontaneous and crazy. Underneath the tough, adventurous exterior, y/n did have a specific fear....thunder. This was unknown to Billy as she refused to share it with him. When Billy asked y/n to go on a picnic date, the girl was beyond excited. Billy packed a picnic basket and arrived at her house, greeting her parents before taking her hand and leading her to the creek.
The two teenagers were so caught up in each other that they didn't even notice the sky beginning to darken. Y/n thought she heard thunder and it snapped her out of her lovesick trance.
"Billy, have you noticed how dark the sky is?" She said warily.
"What, n/n, are you scared of a little rain?" He teased with a smirk.
"You know I'm not." She replied, gently pushing his shoulder. Deep down in the pit of her stomach, she felt the rising fear of the thunder.
After a while, she thought that she was just hearing things because the evening was approaching and there hadn't been a drop of rain. It wasn't until the two were finishing up their dessert that they felt the first few drops of rain. Alas, there was no thunder so the two began to clean up their picnic in hopes to avoid the rain. Their hopes were stepped on when it began to downpour. Y/n let out a breathy giggle as she watched Billy get soaked head to toe.
"What's so funny?" He said, chuckling.
"You," Y/n replied giggling more.
"Oh really?" He said, picking her up and spinning her around.
She kissed him before he placed her gently back on the ground. Her walk home was a far one and they knew they had to begin the journey. They would pass Billy's house on the way home but he insisted that he walk her home. As soon as they passed his house, the rain picked up sufficiently and thunder began. She shuddered as the thunder crashed.
"It's too far of a walk, you'll have to stay the night," Billy yelled over the rain.
"I don't want to impose." She said beginning her walk home.
"And I don't want you to get sick, just come on." He said, taking her hand and pulling him towards his front door.
As soon as the two teenagers entered the front door, Mrs. Andrews came rushing over in worry about the two soaked children standing in the parlor.
"Mrs. Andrews, I am so sorry to impose but Billy insisted I come inside," Y/n said timidly.
"Well of course you must, you'll both catch your death if you walk home in that storm. Come now, let's get you cleaned up, you can stay in the guest room. I'm sure Jane has another night dress." She said, guiding you up the stairs.
You gave Billy a small smile before continuing your ascension into the home. It was not your first time here, you had come many times for sleepovers with Jane and Prissy. She slowly glanced around the hallway, making reference as to where all of the rooms are. It occurred to her that she never realized the guest room was across from Billy's room.
After Mrs. Andrews had gotten y/n everything she needed to get ready for bed, she left the room and closed the door. Y/n took her wet dress off and hung it over the chair to dry, slipping the blue silk nightdress over her head. It felt nicer than anything she had ever worn. She took her hair out of her ribbons, putting her hair in french braids so that they would perhaps dry curled in the morning.
As she climbed into the bed she heard a knock on the door.
"Come in." She said, just loud enough for the person to hear.
"I just came to say goodnight. I wasn't going to bed until I made sure you were comfortable." Billy said, walking over to her. "Is there anything you need?"
"No thank you, Billy. Your family has been so generous to let me stay here, I am completely comfortable."
"Good. If you need me, I'm across the hall." He said, placing a kiss on her head.
She hummed in response before laying down in the bed, she heard the door close and she rested her head on the pillow. It wasn't until her eyes were growing heavy that she heard the crashes of thunder. She jumped a bit, hoping that the storm would end soon. About an hour or so had gone by and the thunder was still raging on. A tear escaped her eye as she hugged her knees on the bed. Then there was the biggest crash of thunder she's heard. She sprang out of bed and ran across the hall.
She gently opened Billy's door and closed it, louder than she had intended, waking the boy.
"Y/n, what's wrong? Is everything alright?" He asked, sitting up quickly, rushing over to her in concern.
Before she could reply, there was another crash of thunder. She closed the gap between their bodies and hugged him close, feeling safer almost immediately. He pushed her away gently, brushing some stray pieces of hair out of her face.
"Are you scared?" He said, sitting on his bed, pulling her close.
"Just a little." She said, sniffling, causing them both to laugh.
Billy leaned back on the bed, pushing the covers back for her to get in next to him. She looked at him with a soft smile for a moment before leaning into him and pulling her legs under the covers. She put her head on his chest as he softly stroked her hair. With the next clap of thunder, she flinched just a bit, and Billy, who felt the shift, wrapped his other arm around her protectively. He kissed the top of her head and continued stroking her hair until she fell asleep safely in his arms. It wasn't long until he himself had fallen asleep.
