I was hoping that my sleep would be filled with dark and silence, but of course, something had to rouse me. A picture slowly starts to form in front of me and I begin to see Katherine's face. She has a welcoming smile on her face.

"It's good to see you again. I'm on my way to you as we speak." I start to yawn and I bring a hand up to cover my mouth. "I'm sorry that you're so tired, but I just wanted to let you know that Kai probably wishes to speak with you. He will want to know about our meeting and most likely to join us. I can connect you to him now if you wish." I nod and begin to yawn again.

"I think they will be alright with one more. Rex's house is definitely large enough to accommodate everyone anyways. And by house I mean castle." Katherine laughs at my statement.

"I know what you mean. Our family has never been one of subtlety. You should have seen the house Kai and I used to share. It would make a millionaire cry in envy." I feel a tad uncomfortable with the amount of affluence that my kids all share. Katherine notices my discomfort and tries to ease away from the subject. "I'm going to patch Kai in now. I sent word to him that I would call upon him soon, so he should be expecting us. He may not want to speak with me, so once the connection stabilizes, I won't bother the two of you." I smile at her gratefully.

"Thank you for everything, I'm so excited to meet another one of my children." She smiles again and then takes a small step back from me.

"You might want to close your eyes. It can get a bit bright while trying to connect." I nod and squeeze my eyes shut tightly. A couple of seconds pass and the light in front of me gets extremely bright and then starts to slowly fade. When I open my eyes the edges of my vision are blurry and I can't quite make out the face in front of me. I blink my eyes a couple of times and try to get my vision to clear.

"Mom..? Is it really you?" I blink one more time and my eyes finally clear. The boy standing before me looks nothing like his sister. His curly, soft brown hair falls just above his ears, brushing the top of his golden-brown eyes. He's dressed in dark blue jeans and a knit grey sweater. A gold ring with inlaid rubies circles his finger. A pair of red converse cover his feet. Nothing about him says "Bringer of War". I marvel at the differences between him and his twin. The only thing remotely similar about him and his sister is their impressive height. I smile at him and nod.

"That's what I've been told. It's nice to meet you." Kai makes a funny face when I say the second sentence.

"You really don't remember me. What a shame. I was hoping that we could pick back up right where we left off." I step closer and place a hand on his cheek.

"I'm doing my best to remember. I feel horrible that I can't even remember my own children." He smiles sadly. I take my hand off his face a let it drop down to my side.

"We'll get your memories back Momma. I want to help however I can."

"Great, because I just happen to be getting the family back together. We could really meet." I give him an encouraging smile. He sighs a breath of relief.

"I would love to. I really miss Dad." He pauses nervously. "I really missed you too."

"Well, then it would be a great time for you to come home to me." He looks at my face and a blinding smile comes to his face. "Do you know where Rex's home is?"

"The one on an island or the one in the forest?"

"Island. I need to have a talk with you kids about not flaunting your wealth so much." He smiles goofily.

"Whatever you want Momma. I'll be there as soon as I can. I'm so excited."

"Me too." I smile at him gently and wave as the dream begins to fade. Once Kai is completely gone, Katherine reappears.

"I'm thinking things went well by the smile on your face." I smile and nod. "Good. When you awake, I will be waiting for you. Sleep well Mother." She steps towards me and places a kiss on my cheek as her image begins to fade. As her image finally fades from my mind, I fall into unconsciousness with a smile on my face. I don't dream of anything, and the silence is a welcoming sound.

When I feel myself begin to wake up, there is a small static sound in my head. I roll over in bed, hugging the closest pillow in the bed to my chest. The static sound won't stop so I concentrate on it, and tell it to shut up. I'm still really tired and I can't rest with annoying noises in my head.

"Well, that's a rude way to say good morning." Sam's quiet voice pipes up from the chair beside my bed. My eyes pop open and stare at Sam.

"Uh, hey. Good morning. What 'cha doing there?" I sit up and motion at him.

"I wanted to be here when you woke up. I heard your connection start to activate again. You haven't slept for very long." I yawn just as he says the last sentence, both of us laughing as I nod my head.

"I haven't slept very much at all. Katherine wanted to talk again, and then Kai wanted to talk too." Sam's face lights up and he leans closer to the bed.

"You talked to Kai? How is he?" I smile at his excitement.

"He looks good, he said he misses you." Sam's smile is contagious. "He's on his way here for the family meeting."

"Aw, really? I haven't seen him in so long. He was always one of my favorites." I smile and yawn again. "Do you want to go back to sleep? Katherine isn't here yet." I nod as my eyes blink slowly.

"Yeah. Hopefully this time no one will try to talk to me." Sam stands and tucks me into the bed as I sink down into the sheets.

"I will make sure no one disturbs you." He pulls the covers up to my chin and pushes my hair out of my face. He leans down and kisses my forehead. "Try and get some good rest this time." I nod as he starts to walk out of the room. I fight my oncoming anxiety as I call out to him.

"Sam?" He turns back around, just before walking through the door. "Will you stay with me?" He moves back towards me, pulling the door shut behind him.

"Of course." He kicks off his shoes and gets into the bed next to me. I can tell that he's trying not to get too close or touch me. I fight back a smile as I back myself closer to him and my body comes to rest against his. Sam seems anxious at first, but his body relaxes and his arm moves around my waist to pull me closer. Our bodies meld together and I can feel every inch of him touching me. A million thoughts race through my head, some making a blush rise to my face. Sam laughs quietly and I can feel his breath on the back of my neck. "Try to get some rest. Don't think too much about me. I'm not going anywhere." His arms squeeze me a bit tighter and I close my eyes. I feel so safe and protected that it takes me practically no time to fall back asleep, with a content smile on my face.
