Chapter Thirty-Four

(Vinny's POV)

Just walk by her Vinny. She doesn't love you. Don't waste your time. I had to drill that into my head to find the strength to just walk past Gab in Science. No matter how much I want to believe she loves me.... She doesn't. She's with Marko. That repulsive creature who doesn't love her half as much as I do. And he never will. It seemed as if the class took forever to go by, I just wanted to get out of the classroom before I lost the battle to my temptations and talked to her. I finally convinced myself she will never love me, and both of us are better off if we stay out of each other's lifes. Finally, the blel rang, signaling it was time to head to our next class. I quickly piled up my books, and scurried to my next class, which just so happened to be next door to Gab's. I sat down, and opened my binder to the section for this class. God Vinny, just try and concentrate....

(Thirty minutes later)

Well I was completely failing. All I could think about was Gab. How perfect she is and how much I need her in my life. It's not fair. How come the bad guy always gets the girl? I got up, and asked the teacher for the bathroom pass, which surprisingly, she gave to me without her usual snyde remark about how we're wasting her class time with interuptions for prude things like this. I walked out into the hallway, and saw farther down the hall, a guy and a girl. Fighting, obviously. He reached out and tried to kiss her, but she pushed him back, and tried to walk away. He pulled her back, and smacked her. Oh hell no. No guy should ever lay a hand on his girlfriend. Ever. "Hey! What's going on here?" As I got closer, I saw who it was. Gab and Marko. That made me even more enraged. I ran towards them, and before I could even think about it, my fist collided with his hand. "Don't you ever lay another hand on her again." I yelled, and helped Gab up, taking her into my embrace. She cried into my chest, she was shaking so badly. Marko stood up, and glared at me. "You're going to regret that." "I'm soooo scared...." I said sarcastically, and rolled my eyes. He shook his head, and ran down the hall. "Gab... Gab. Look at me." I said, holding her an arm's width away from me. She peeked out from behind her hands, revealing her swollen and red face. That smack really left a mark! I couldn't help it, I ran my thumb across the red mark, and she winced. "I'm sorry.... I wish I would've gotten here sooner... He shouldn't be doing that to you..." I said, shaking my head. "No... I deserve it...." Gab cried. I looked at her, shocked. "No, you don't! And if he ever does that to you again, I'll kill him!" I yelled, and she winced. "I'm sorry. It's just, I hate that he did this to you. Why are you with him?" Gab shook her head. "I'm not. And that's why he's doing this..." "So, he's abusing you for leaving him? Why don't you tell anyone Gab?!" I asked. "Because..." She bit her lip. "Tell me." I said. "Because... I'm protecting you." Gab said, tears streaming down her face. Wait, what? I did not see that one coming....
