"So, ummm... I know this question is stupid and I can already guess your answer, but anyway, would you like to go to the ball with me?" I ask Snape after the potions class the next day.

"That would be absolutely inappropriate", Snape says firmly, without any hesitation.

"So that's a no...?" I say, disappointed but not surprised.

"It is a no, indeed. Just imagine Dumbledore and all the other teachers seeing me with a student - without even mentioning the other students who would start bullying you - no, we cannot go to the ball as a couple."

"What if you just talked to Dumbledore? You could start the conversation carefully, like you could talk to him about a hypothetical situation and see his reaction and then maybe tell him and-"

"What are you, a total idiot?! It's not going to work. Honestly I'm quite sure this is never going to work. After a while you'll be bored of me because I'm too old - you should get yourself a boyfriend your own age, Y/N." Snape sorts out some papers on his table without looking at me. I take a few steps closer to him and say:

"But I love you, Severus. I could never get bored of you. Why can't we just enjoy the time we're together not thinking about other people's stupid opinions or the future?"

He ignores me so I yell "Look at me!"

He looks at me. I can see love in his dark eyes and that look is making my heart melt.

"I love you too, Y/N", he whispers. "But this was a huge mistake. We should've never even tried this, we both knew right from the beginning that this is inappropriate and stupid."

"But love - love doesn't need to make any sense."

"What are you talking about. Get out now, I've got some work to do."

I lick his upper lip and then I kiss him passionately putting my tongue into his mouth. He immediately pushes me away and walks out of the door without saying a word.

"You prick", I mutter after him.

As he gets out of the classroom, Draco surprisingly walks in.

"I walked by and saw Snape running out of here. Is everything alright?" he asks.

"No, everything's not alright. Snape doesn't want to go to the ball with me and now he's acting very cold and annoying. He said this was a mistake."

"Yeah, your situation is very problematic, indeed."

"Is Harry still mad at you?" I ask him out of curiosity.

"No, actually he's not. He said he finally understands me and he's gonna find someone else to go to the ball with. Which is gonna make me jealous, most likely..."

"I could maybe go with him. Even though I'm a slytherin and he's a gryffindor... But there's not much time left before the ball and I don't want to miss it", I suggest.

"That's a brilliant idea, Y/N! I'll ask Harry what he thinks. Just don't get too close with him... Or I might have to kill you" Draco says, smiling.

"Yeah, absolutely. I'll leave your sweetheart soul mate alone." I wink my eyes and Draco murmurs: "Oh, shut up."
