"This is just ridiculous, you're blowing this entirely out of proportion!" Virgil stood across from his boyfriend, arms crossed as they stared each other down. They were fighting again, as they always seemed to be doing now.
"What's ridiculous is how much time you're spending here!" Deceit hissed.
"Are you trying to tell me I don't spend enough time with you?"
"I'm trying to tell you how much I enjoy spending time with the eye make-uped trash pirate," Deceit gestured at Virgil's door that had been bolted shut in the hopes of keeping Remus out. "Instead of my boyfriend!"
"What's wrong with eye-makeup?"
"You know that's what I meant, and you know how much I despise your fashion sense!"
"Can you, please, for once in your life, not speak in lies?"
Deceit threw his hat to the ground as he paced. He took a deep breath, and when he spoke again, his voice was quiet. "I'm sorry, you... I'm just getting worked up. I don't like how much time you spend... over there," He admitted, referring to the lighter side of Thomas's mind.
"And since when do you have any say in where I go or what I do with my time?" Virgil retorted,
"I'm not trying to be controlling," Deceit glared, "I... I don't want to lose you, Virgil,"
Virgil blinked, taken aback. Lose him? That's what Deceit was worried about? He looked at his boyfriend, whose face was turned away. He walked over to Deceit, gently taking his hands. "Hey..." Virgil said softly. He saw that Deceit's eyes were red, his face struggling to hide his emotions. "I'm not going anywhere, Deceit,"
Deceit pulled his hands away, shaking his head. "You may say that, but I know better. I know you better," His tone was soft but his words were harsh.
"What's that supposed to mean?"
"When given the choice between what we want and what we have..." Deceit said slowly, "You... will always choose what you want."
"Deceit-"
"And what you want is to be accepted. To be a light side,"
Virgil turned Deceit so that they were face to face. "What I want is you," He said hoarsely. He met his boyfriend's eyes and repeated himself, "I want you, Deceit, I don't care about them." He kissed Deceit roughly to prove his point.
Deceit hesitantly kissed him back, but broke away a moment later, resting his forehead against Virgil's.
"Please believe me," Virgil whispered. "It's true, Deceit, I swear it is,"
"I know it is," Deceit replied after a moment, brushing Virgil's bangs out of his eyes affectionately. "I'm just aware of the fact that a certain someone has broken through our barricade."
Virgil spun and saw Remus watching the two of them from the floor, his head resting on his hands. "Get out of my room!" Virgil shouted, but Remus merely grinned.
"Aw, come on, Virgle!" Remus mispronounced Virgil's name on purpose, pouting, "I want to join in the fun!"
"This isn't fun, this is adult stuff," Deceit glared at the small gremlin man on the floor.
"Oooh, PG-13?" Remus asked in a tone that made everyone uncomfortable, cackling.
"Get out!" Virgil yelled, and- miraculously- Remus did, snickering. Virgil sighed, turning back to his boyfriend, who was actually smiling. He walked over to him slowly, taking his hands again.
"Are we okay?" Virgil asked nervously.
Deceit smiled, kissing Virgil quickly on his lips. "Yes. We are," He said softly.
Virgil pulled his boyfriend close again. He could trust Deceit, he knew that.
And he could stay close to the light side at the same time, right?
He just wanted to help Thomas.
And he could do that by staying close to the light sides while still having Deceit beside him, right?
Right?
