Jason thought that banking the whole idea of him being able to electrocute something other than himself was a big mistake. But nonetheless, he had to try. All the other campers had congregated at the back of the dock. There was really no easy way to stay grounded in a situation like this, but if he accidentally managed to set the old wood dock on fire they could easily jump into the harbor and be safe. He looked over his shoulder and gave his comrades a small smile, as if saying "This may be goodbye" but instead of being met with the applause, tears and encouragement he had hoped for Michael Kahale pointed at him and said, "It's you or me Grace and it sure as Hades isn't me."

Jason turned back around and faced the darkness. He tried to think of everything that had ever made him angry in his life: Cohort 5's reputation. Octavian being made centurion. The travel bans on The Ancient Lands. He had never gotten a quest. His Father. His mother. His sister. The fact that he couldn't even remember her name.

He kept listing and soon felt the familiar tingle in his fingertips, the hair on his arms began to stand on end and in the darkness, he heard distant thunder.

He thought harder. The Prophecy. The one about when he was 16. The Titans reforming. Saturn stirring. Mount Diablo. His home in danger. What if he couldn't save it? What if he failed and the world ended? What if he never got to see his sister again? What if she was already dead? What if he could never remember her name? What if she was disappointed in him? If he failed, would she still love him? Could she still remember him? His name?

That's when it struck. A flash of blinding white light hit the top of Jason's head and illuminated all of his immediate surroundings. In the split second he had he could see the Amazon guards with heir bows and night vision goggles fall to the ground blinded. Disabled for now. The lightning slowly disappeared, and Jason fell to his knees. Behind him, he heard a stampede. His fellow campers rushed towards the amazons, disarming them and taking them out of commission.

Jason's ears were ringing. His whole body ached. And once again, he swore he smelled bacon. Reyna ran up to his side and put her arm around him as his knees buckled.

"Jason!" she said loudly trying to rouse him from the darkness that threatened his vision. "We're not done yet, come on." She began dragging him forward and surprised, Jason felt a short burst of energy. He legs began working again and his vision cleared. From past experience, he knew that the electrocution that he suffered should not be wearing off this quickly. But at this moment, with more or less an army facing his legion, he decided not to question it.

The two continued running towards the glow of the arena. Behind him, he heard Michael blasting orders to the First Cohort. Something about staying low but keeping the amazons they had apprehended near the water. At this moment he really wished there was a child or legacy of Neptune at camp, someone to not only possibly keep his enemies swirling in the dark murky water of the San Pablo Bay but to also be the demigod of the prophecy. Someone else to see Olympus razed.

But no such luck. No son of Neptune existed, andJason would have to face his 16th birthday alone.
