Lost Love

Kane's Revenge

My mouth felt like a desert. Dry and stale. My vision spun as I tried to open my eyes, and one side of my face throbbed sharply. The other side was pressed into the soft moldy dirt.

Once my vision was stable I realized I was in some sort of cellar with my feet and hands bound with chains.

A soft whimpering came from the corner where I could barely make out Claire's small form curled up in a tight ball. Her whole body was shaking as she cried.

"Claire." I croaked,  trying to reach for her but the chains stopped me.

Her head snapped up and she leaped for me.

"Alyx. Oh you're alive!" She cried trying to reach for me as well.

"Where are we Claire?"

"I don't know. I woke up here like you did. Its a cellar." She pointed to a metal door to the right. Only a small sliver of light escaped it.

I reached through the pack bond calling for Bane but something blocked me. Like a stone wall was blocking our connection.

"We're surrounded by wolf's bane. Its weakening our wolves. Kane did this a lot back home....he didn't want anyone more powerful than him."

Frustrated I yanked at my chains in vain. They were to strong, and to tight to allow me to shift.

Shifting was to dangerous anyway with all the wolf's bane.

Only then did I really realize how lost we were. There was no way Bane would find us here.

There was no way I could get back to my babies. 

A whimper escaped my lips as I sank back onto the ground.

*Bane's POV*

Raking my hands through my hair I held bavk the roar building up in my chest. I frantically tried to reach out for her again, only to find nothing. No trace of her or Claire.

"Im so sorry, Bane...We didn't think..."

"Damn right you weren't thinking. " Dom snapped.  He had been pacing the room silently,  but now he had turned on Fey with blazing red eyes.

Eli snarled at him, baring his canines.

"Watch it Dominic. Fey had nothing to do with this."

"That's enough. We dont have the time to stand around blaming eachother. Dom go find Cody and see if they've found a scent yet." I ordered.  Dom needed the fresh air. He needed to clear his head before he said or did something he'd regret later.

"I'll take Fey back to the room and then head out too." Eli said after he had left.

I nodded waving them away.

After they had closed the door behind them I sank into my chair.

Dammit,  Alyx. Where are you?

The same hollow feeling I felt four years ago came roaring back. I can't lose her again. I can't survive it twice.

I felt my exterior slowly break apart until it shattered.  I exploded out of my chair, launching my desk against the wall. Glass shattered as I threw a lamp and books fell from the vibration of the desk.

I roared, slashing my claws across the stupid green curtains and the walls.

My wolf was taking over my human side completely.

"Daddy?" A soft whimper came from behind me.

Dropping my claws I turned to see Eden and Aden huddled up next to eachother in my doorway. Their eyes were full to the brim with tears and fear. Fear of me.

"No, dont be afraid.  It's alright babies. Daddy's here." I scooped them into my arms as I sat on the ground.

They buried their faces into my neck and I breathed in their sweet scents until my wolf calmed down.

"Daddy, I miss mommy. " Eden sniffed rubbing her eyes.

"Me too." Aden agreed doing the same.

"I know babies. So do I. But Daddy is going to find her, okay?" They nodded solemnly as I stood up, carrying them with me.

After dropping them off with Fey and Dimitri I headed out the back door were Fey last saw them. I picked up Alyx's scent easily.

"Im coming Alyx."
