Ray Palmer x Reader (Part 2)

"Raymond Palmer!" You were furious. Ray was ready to get rid of any future he had just to live out this fantasy.

"(Y/N) I know what you're going to say but listen to me." Ray stood in front of you and looked deep into your eyes. "Stay. Stay here with me. They think of me as a brave knight and you could be one too. They'll all love us."

"You think that's what I want? Raymond I want a life, not in the 6th century. I have family back in Central City. So do you. Felicity, Oliver, Barry, everyone? You're going to leave all of them for this?" You gesture to the suit of armor and sword in his hand. "And most of all you're throwing away any future with me."

"(Y/N)?" Ray reaches out for you but you back up and turn to the exit.

"I'm sorry Ray. But this is goodbye." With your final words spoken, you walk out of the tent with the thought that you'll never see Ray again.

~Timeskip~

You and Nate quickly got back to the Waverider to tell the team Ray's not coming. You still couldn't believe this was happening. "Captain Lance!" Nate ran into the control room of the Waverider with you tagging slowly behind. The team looks at you two upon your arrival with confused looks.

"Where's Raymond" Professor Stein spoke up for everyone. Nate explained Rays decision and everyone started arguing on what to do. Amaya and Sara kept saying how the Spear was more important than our own teammate and that we had to leave.

Seriously? How could they say that, even think it? You were still angry at Ray too, probably more, but that didn't mean you were going to give up on him.

"Well, as much as haircut's a pain in my ass, I'm not gonna let him fight alone." Rory began to stand up and turned towards the doors.

"Neither am I." You stood and went next to Mick when Sara stopped you both.

"Sit down. That's an order." You both turned too Sara.

"What's an order?"

"Don't test me Mick."

"Yeah well how about me?" You step closer to Sara and stand your ground, challenging her.

"Stand down, (Y/N)."

"Don't threaten us, blondie." Mick stood next to you and Sara began to get peeved at your actions. Professor Stein lifted his chair restraint and quickly stood with you all.

"I can't believe I'm actually agreeing with Mr. Rory and Mr./Ms. (L/N)."

"I said sit down!" Jax joined us as well, almost all of us now testing our captain.

"Stop." We all turned our gazes to Amaya. "I've already lost one team. I'll be damned if my decision rips the Legends apart too."

"What are you saying?"

"Listen to your gut, captain. Don't abandon Ray." You spoke up to help the conversation. You knew Sara long enough to know how she feels about all of this.

"He may be sentimental, but the team should come before tactics." Sara looked at everyone in agreement, finally admitting it.

"Alright, let's do this."

Sara took you, Amaya, and Nate to all go and fight for Ray while Stein, Jax, and Rory deal with the evil army. You all grab swords and run out of the Waverider onto the battlefield. You and Nate saw Ray and ran over to him to fight.

"So, came to fight for an imaginary kingdom after all?" Nate looked at Ray as you fought off a knight.

"I came to fight for a friend." You finished off the knight then looked at Ray.

"A really dumb friend." Ray shrugged and you all went back to fighting. Just as the battle seemed to go on forever, all the knights stopped battling. They all grabbed their heads in agony and ripped off the mind controlling devices. When King Arthur had restored consciousness he went and took down Rip. Damien though, ran off leaving his so called "partner" behind. Ray saw Damien retreating and raced after him.

"Damn it Ray!" You grabbed a horse and followed behind. You couldn't keep up with them both though so you arrived shortly after. When you did, Ray and Damien were at each others throats, giving their all. But Ray gained the upper hand by breaking Damiens sword and knocking him to the ground. You ran over to Ray and you both pointed your swords at Damien.

"Yield, Damien!"

"Okay, okay, I submit." Damien held his hands up in defeat while staring up at you both. But in a moment too quick for Ray to react, Damien shot at him. But no bullet hit Ray. You moved in front of him in that single moment, immediately falling to the ground.

"(Y/N)!" Ray caught you and slowly set you down on his lap. Damien stood and looked down at your unmoving body.

"Pity. Seemed she really loved you. Too bad this is your fault Raymond." Damien walked away in defeat but with a grin on his face. Ray watched your face cradling you in his arms. Tears starting to fall down his face when his hope slowly decreased.

"Ray? (Y/N)!" Nate found you both and ran over to you.

"(Y/N), come on, wake up. (Y/N) come on, please! I'm not losing you. I'm so sorry, I should've left, I should've listened. I want to be with you, please, wake up."

"Stop yelling at me." Ray snapped his eyes open to you hissing in pain.

"But....how'd you?..." Both Ray and Nate looked at you with wonder of how you survived the bullet. You reach up and remove your chest plate to show a bullet proof vest.

"After Rip shot Sara I never left the ship with out it." Ray gives a breathy laugh and hugs you tightly.

~Timeskip~

You were relaxing back in your room on the Waverider when you heard a knock on your doors. "Come in." The large metal doors open to reveal Ray, cleaned up and back in his normal attire.

"Hey (Y/N). Look I-"

"You don't have to apologize Ray. I do." Ray comes over and sits in front of you on your bed. You take his hand in yours but look down to avoid his eyes. "I shouldn't have said those things I did. And I especially shouldn't have just gave up on you and left. I should've helped you fight for what you thought was right. I feel terrible and-" You were stopped by Ray lifting your chin to look at him.

"Look, it's all over now, I'm not Sir Raymond of the Palms. I am Ray Palmer, The Atom, and..." He slowly pulls you closer to him by your chin. "...I am yours." You smile as you both come together for a slow and meaningful kiss. You leave behind the Medieval Times, for whatever future lies ahead of you both.
