Normally it's pretty quiet on the Waverider, as hard as that is to believe. But individually the team is silent if everyone's separated. And boy were those the moments you cherished. So when the loud, obnoxious, and ear-piercing sound of the anachronism alert came on, you were ready to kill someone. "Gideon, this one better be good or I'm putting you in silent mode." You walk to the control panel on the bridge to see what the anachronism is.

"My apologies Ms.(L/N), but I believe you'll find the anachronism to be quite important." You join Sara, Ray, Amaya, Stein, and Jax who were already there when Nate walks in after you.

"Aren't they all?" He stands next to you and smirks to which you nudge him with your elbow for his smart ass comment. " So what is it Gideon?"

"A local jazz bar in 1923 New Orleans, Louisiana which originally was a significant night for jazz history has now become a massacre. Everyone inside was murdered by American cult leader Charles Manson."

"What?! Our anachronism is Charles Manson?" Sara looked at the newly created newspaper article showing the destruction done that night.

"Wait, what was so important about that jazz bar."

"Not what Ray, who." You touch the screen going through the pictures to find the victims there that night. "Inside this bar was one of the most influential musicians of all time..." You pull up a picture to show the rest of the team which Gideon projected. " Louis Armstrong."

"That makes sense, Manson was a White Supremacist who came up with a scenario he called the "Helter Skelter" which was that there was an impending apocalyptic race war between the whites and the African Americans." Nate brought up all the files on Manson as he quickly spoke.

"And Louis Armstrong was revolutionary adopting the white community culture instead of spreading their own culture of African Americans. He was one of the first that brought together his community with the white middle class for the first time in history." You turn to Nate and talk just as fast to explain Armstrong's history.

"So where better to continue his cause than one of the most influential, coming together of races moments than that. He's trying to stop his idea of the apocalypse long before it has even started. You and Nate had grown close due to you both getting lost in each other's history lesson. It wasn't till Sara cleared her throat that you two broke away and saw that the rest of the team was staring at you. You blush and look away from Nate as he did the same.

"Okay, so we'll have two teams, Me, Amaya, and Firestorm will go after Manson and try to stop him before he attacks. (Y/N), Nate and Ray will stay in the bar and watch over Armstrong just in case. Ray, you stay small and watch every entry and exit while Nate and (Y/N) blend in and keep an eye on anyone suspicious." The team started walking towards the fabrication room when Sara held you behind a little to talk. "So what was with the historical knowledge bombs between you and Nate back there?"

"Are you kidding? It was nothing, it was just like you said, history." You laugh slightly in response to try and hide your nervous tone.

"Whatever you say." You walk together to the fabricator and change then prepare for the mission.

Timeskip

     "Nate. Nate look! It's him!"

"Manson?" Nate turns away from the bar we were sitting at and gets in a fighting stance.

"No, it's Louis Armstrong."

"Oh, scared me for a second. You really like him huh?"

"I listened to his music with my family all the time as a child. It always calmed me down." Nate starred at you while you were distracted, he smiled seeing how happy You were. He looked at you like it was both the first and last time he'd seen it. Nate opens his mouth as if about to say something but closes when Sara's voice comes through your ear pieces.

"Guys Manson's out here but we need a distraction so no one hears and comes outside."

"On it Captain. Any ideas (Y/N)?" You look away back to Armstrong with his trumpet talking to the band.

"I think I've got one, you watch the doors." Before Nate could ask what you were planning you walk up to Armstrong. "Excuse me Mr. Armstrong, I'm a great admirer of yours and was hoping I get the honor of singing with you and your trumpet."

"Any opportunity to play is an opportunity worth taking, especially for a singer such as yourself. Anything specific you'd like us to play?"

"Think you could follow my lead?" Armstrong smiles and holds out his hand for you to take and step on the stage. Nate sees you and mouths 'what are you doing?' You give him a simple nod hoping he'll take it as a 'trust me,' you then count down Armstrong and the others and start singing (Play the song and imagine all saxophone parts are trumpet parts).

As you and Armstrong start everyone in the bar looks and starts to listen. You never thought you'd be singing Get Lucky in the 1920's with Louis Armstrong while trying to stop Charles Manson, but here you were. You weren't really surprised anymore, you've been with the Legends since the very beginning and this is one of the least crazy things you all have done. They've always been like a family to you, until Nate showed up that is. You had fallen hard and fast for the historian, he was just so adorable and perfect to you.

Everyone inside started smiling and tapping their foot along watching you, including Nate. Except Nate watched you specifically in amazement, he looked at you and thought you were beautiful. Your constant movie references making each other laugh, your kindness and personality, it was all perfect to him.  If only you knew his feelings for you.

As you kept going and more people started making noise and dancing along, you could hear Sara in your ear telling you to keep going. You helped Nate by watching the doors while you had slightly higher ground since he seemed distracted. You looked at him to see him staring straight back at you. You kept singing as you looked at each other even though it was difficult for you. It was like a trance or a trap that you didn't want to leave, and Nate was too entranced to look away.

"Hey guys, we got Manson. Now let's take him home, nice work (Y/N)." You finished quickly after you hear Sara now to the crowd.

"I have to say Miss, I haven't heard a song quite like that before but it was certainly a pleasure to play for you." Armstrong held out his hand to which you shook and smiled.

"The pleasure was all mine Mr. Armstrong."

"Now excuse my boldness but, I saw the way your friend was looking at you up here, and I can firmly tell you that is a man in love."

     "You really think so sir?"

"I know so, and you go get it." He smiled then walked off with the rest of the band. You went over to Nate who held the same expression as when you were singing.

     "You alright Nate?"

"I love you." You looked at him in shock trying process what he said, but before you could you were met with Nates lips on yours. He put his hands on both sides of your face to hold you close and you relaxed in them. You put your hands on his wrist to steady yourself and he leaned back, keeping his forehead on yours. "Be mine?"

     "I will."
