A few days later, George was relaxing in his office, when a sudden knock cane at the door.
"Letter for his majesty!" A voice announced, as the door swung open to reveal a servant in his ironed uniform holding a small white letter.
George beckoned the man over, taking the letter from his hands before dismissing him.
After the servant disappeared out the door, George used his small gold letter opener to slowly open the small letter.
"Dear King George III" it began
"Recently your fiancé Oliver and I spoke, where he revealed his recent engagement to you...."
George skimmed over the array of cursive writing until he reached the near bottom of the impossibility long letter.
"I wish to assist in the preparation if your wedding, as I have many acquaintances who would happily assist me. I do not expect payment, as I am not a professional. As previously mentioned I have already who discussed the matter with Oliver who wished for me to write to you. Oliver does not mind, and has already listed his preferences which are written on the other side of this sheet.
Reply swiftly,
-Samuel Seabury"George flipped over the parchment to see a short list of Ollie's wedding preferences. From what he gathered, Ollie wanted a small, traditional wedding with cake and flowers, lilies to be specific.
George was happy with the arrangements, but was more concerned with how far the news would travel. He thought for a moment, before equipping himself with a short piece of parchment, some ink and a quill. He dipped the quill gently in the ink, and began to write.
"Dear Samuel Seabury,
I will gladly accept the offer, and am happy with Oliver's preferences.
However, be cautious the news will not reach those outside of those who are involved with wedding planning.
Please begin the wedding as soon as you are able, we are hoping to get married within the next few months.
I will discuss further with Oliver tonight, and will update you soon.
Many thanks,
King George III Of England."He signed the letter, before carefully wax sealing it inside a small yet appropriately sized envelope. He placed it in his pocket, before making his way to the post office.
While walking, he realised he hadn't seen Ollie today, which was odd, as Ollie always made sure to visit George if he could. He figured Ollie was just busy, and that he could visit him in the evening.
He soon arrived at the post office, where he slid the envelope into one of the tall red post boxes, before heading to the counter to inquire about Ollie.
"Good evening your majesty, how may I assist you?" The gentleman at the counter greeted, giving the king a small bow.
"Evening already?" The king joked, tucking a loose strand of curly blonde hair behind his ear. "You haven't seen Ollie, I mean, Oliver today?" George asked, quickly checking behind him, causing the strand of hair from before to spring out from behind his ear.
"Oh yes! I saw him 5 minutes ago, looked like he was heading to the palace gardens. He looked rather upset, like he had been crying. Puffy eyes, tomato red face, the works." The postman replied in a mildly concerned tone. "Hope he's ok".
George nodded, and suddenly began to worry.
"Thank you, I must go, thank you."
The man behind the counter bowed before the king hurried to the garden. He quickly arrived at the garden, and began to search the large area for Ollie until he heard a chorus of familiar sobs from a far corner.
"Ollie!" The king shouted, beginning to run towards the source of the heartfelt sobs. "It's me, George? Where are you".
Eventually, he found Ollie sitting on an ancient oak bench in the far corners of the garden, a large cat he recognised as James limp in the brunette's thin arms.
"G-George" Ollie sobbed, continuing to gaze upon the limp body of his life long companion. "He's...he's".
Ollie could barely speak through his agonising cries of sorrow. George carefully sat beside him, and wrapped a comforting arm around his fiancé, which Ollie leaned into.
"He was so...so..." wept Ollie, bitter tears continuing to stream down his face , landing in the moth-eaten coat of James.
"Shhhh, it's ok, let it all out" George comforted, slowly stroking the sobbing brunette's back in a feeble attempt to comfort him.
"I-I don't even have anywhere to bury him". Ollie continued, running l his fingers through James' long fur.
"We can bury him in the garden if you like?" George offered, already going over where he could possibly fit a cat's grave.
"Could we get a headstone, and engrave his name on it, with a date and everything?" Ollie asked, tearfully gazing up into the blue eyes of his lover.
"Of course sweetie" George replied, as Ollie leaned further into his embrace.
Thats when George realised the cat had been perfectly well days before, he wasn't even that old. It was only 8.
Ollie constantly told him how well he was, and how at his old home he used to bring him birds and mice, which George knew were hard to catch.
But now was not the time to bring this up, he would have the cat tested just in case before burying it.
With Ollie's permission, obviously.
But for now, he would continue to be by Ollie's side, giving him cuddles and kisses and all the reassurance anyone could ever want.
For now and forever.
