"Kusuukeee, it didn't workkkk...." You sighed, collapsing onto your chair. School ended, and you went straight home. You didn't do much in school, but you did get Toritsuka's number. Aiura also gave you hers, since she had come over after worrying he was pestering you. They seemed nice, you were planning to go out tomorrow or the day after. Kusuke appeared onto the screen, a device in his hands along with a screwdriver. He sat down.
"Hm? The bet? How so?"
"...He played it off as him being one of Kaidou's fantasies... Which was hilarious, but still!" You huffed angrily. He hummed, ignoring what his brother had done.
"Well, he's gonna do that next time you try, too." He said. You let out a sigh.
"Yeah, I figured..."
"So all you've got to expose him so many times until it's much too suspicious. That Kaidou boy's delirious, but not absolutely dumb, is he? It should only take a couple of times." Kusuke shrugged. You nodded.
"Hm, I guess. I'll try think up a situation where we can force him to use his powers, and somehow get Kaidou to see it. That'll be tough, with Saiki's telepathy... He can just hear Kaidou. Do you have anything that can prevent that?" You asked.
"Hmm... This." He said, grabbing his strange crown from the side. "Telepathy blocker. But I doubt Kaidou will wear it."
You laughed, "I can think up an array of ways to get him to do that. From what I've collected about him from mind reading, he's extremely gullible when it comes to magic. I could like, transform into a fortune teller, and then tell him the crown will help him receive powers. And I wouldn't even be lying if I said that, since it'd help win the bet and get him powers." You shrugged. Kusuke smiled.
"You didn't even need my help that time. Why exactly did you want to call, again? You could have easily done it by yourself." He asked. You laughed.
"It's a little easier to think with you around, I'll admit. What's that you're working on?" You asked, suddenly interested in the small gadget in the palm of his hands. He smirked.
"Glad you asked! Have a look." He said, tightening one more screw to turn the object into a sphere, then pressing a button. A projection lit up mid-air of yourself in the video chat, and your eyes widened. It flickered from mid-air to the wall, and then shut off. "Ah, well that didn't work... But cool, right?"
"Woah! That's like something out one of those sci-fi movies!" You gasped. He continued to chuckle.
"It's just something I made for fun. You're more excited than I expected. Never seen a hologram?" He asked, swiveling on his chair and placing the object aside after he turned it off. He leaned forward, elbow supporting his head.
You scoffed, "Hah, a hologram? I haven't even seen a large screen TV in real life. Not until yesterday. I passed by a shop, they look so cool!"
"...You haven't seen a widescreen TV...??" He said, eyebrows furrowed with genuine confusion. You had a TV back in your old home, but it was box-y, and low quality. Lines running through the screen and all. No one really used too much electricity over there. You had to write using paper and pen most of the time... You had only got this computer, but you memorized the keyboard, so it was easy to use.
"I used to live in a village. Not much electricity." You shrugged. He raised an eyebrow.
"Oh, so that's what it is. Interesting." He mused. You stretched out.
"Well, I need a transformation power if I wanna turn into an old fortune teller. Gonna write for a bit." You sighed. The two of you continued your video chat as you both worked, making small talk. "By the way, how do you even get onto my screen? It's not like I'm accepting any video-calls, you just sort of... appear."
